Will & Delphine’s Story

?

The man I hate is my fated mate.

My post-Convergence life has been a nightmare. Ten years in a research facility, followed by five on the run, and I’m finally putting my life back together. I’ve made New Orleans my home again, and things are good.

Then ex-lit professor and alpha wolf Will Watson shows up.

The man responsible for it all.

Will is the one who abandoned me to the Angels, and now he has the audacity ask for my help. After years of radio silence, I should turn him down without a second thought…but there’s something about him that gives me pause.

That something? He’s triggered my first heat.

And when it comes to getting down and dirty with Will, I’ve never been able to say no.

?

“It’s not the pale moon that excites me, that thrills and delights me. Oh no—it’s just the nearness of you.”

– Ned Washington

We’ve got to stop meeting like this.

I’m in his office again, standing at the threshold and wondering if this is the last time or just a continuation of where we left off. It’s the same old place, tidy except for the bookshelf, which is stacked with battered books. Volumes of Keats, Lord Byron, and Charlotte Bronte line the shelves, sticky notes plastered across them and wedged inside the pages. The sound of jazz piano—Ella Fitzgerald, a classic—trickles from a speaker set on the windowsill.

Dr. Will Watson glances up at me from where he’s grading papers, a pen in his right hand and a cup of coffee steaming on the desk. The moon filters in through the window, the rest of Tulane’s campus silhouetted in its light, Will’s dark skin like silver and gold in the contrasting light from inside and out.

He clears his throat.

“You got my email.”

I lick my lips and nod. “Right. Youremail,” I respond. “About…the paper.”
