“What do you want from me?” I ask.

“I need somewhere safe for the girls––”

“Done, they can have my house in Aspen. I sent Marco there to lay low. He can keep watch over them––”

“I don’t know this fucker,” Knight pipes in from the back. I pin him with a look that says don’t fuck with me.

“Marco is my cousin and he is the reason why we got in tonight. He helped me find the dirt on all of my enemies. He would die before he ever let any harm come to those girls.” I mean every word I say, I trust Marco even though he was pissed about me not killing Carlina. He sees now what she means to me and has since apologized. King turns in the front seat to face me, pinning me with a dirty look.

“My daughter will be there,” he growls.

“How about I fly Marco out here, you meet him and everyone can travel back together?” I suggest. None of them are happy with the idea but they don’t have much other choice. Bishop may not like me but he trusts me to keep Carlina safe. “My house in Aspen is set with motion detection all around the woods. The alarm system is top of the line, the whole thirty acres is fenced and electric. The house has panic mode and will lock down in two point five seconds. That house is the safest place for them to be. If Marco being there is too unsettling for you three, then I will send him to my apartment in Ibiza until I get back.”

Three days later…

Bishop holds Kiara tightly against him, Knight has Koby wrapped around him, King and Allison stand in an awkward three-way hug with their daughter as I stand here with my girl hugged to my chest and her arms wrapped around me while I bury my nose in the crook of her neck and breath in her scent. Kiara, Allison and Koby didn’t take the news well that their men would be coming with us. Koby threatened to castrate Knight, Kiara said she would shoot Bishop but Ally, she burst into tears and begged King not to leave her and their daughter. I spy Luka out of the corner of my eye and know it’s time. Him and eight others of Bishop’s most trusted will fly with the girls to Aspen.

Marco didn’t want to cause any trouble so he took my offer to fly to Ibiza until I return. Tony, Kiara’s father, has agreed to give Bishop the man power he needs when the time comes. The morgue is running dental records on the body and we won’t have an ID until that’s done. The body is unrecognizable Bishop told us. He was the only one who went to the morgue. There has still been no sign of Mav. No one has seen or heard a word from him, which just tells us all that he was the rat. Koby has been trying almost daily to get in contact with Anya but had no luck. We can all see the worry in her eyes for her friend and the guilt she feels. Anya saved Koby and her brother and now Koby is determined to return the favor.

“I don’t want to let go,” my girl whispers as her grip on me tightens. I nip at her neck and relish in the shiver that rolls through her. Neither of us slept a wink last night as I couldn’t get enough of her. Every time I thought of leaving her, my hunger for her would come back and I was inside her again in seconds.

“I don’t either, baby, but I have to do this,” I say quietly. I hate that I don’t have a time frame on when I’ll be back. Gage said he can be inside the Bratva within a week and build up from there, but I need to get inside their building and not get caught. I don’t tell her any of that though.

“Promise me if things get bad, you’ll leave. Promise me you’ll come back to me, Vincent, because I can’t lose you… I won’t survive that.” A sob tears from her and it fucking destroys me to see her cry. I hold her tighter and place kisses to the top of her head. Bishop catches my eye and nods indicating it’s time. I take a deep breath and slowly untangle myself as I take a step back, her eyes are red and puffy from crying. I gently wipe away her tears and lean down to kiss her. I pour all of my love for her into this kiss, hoping she knows without me saying that she is my world. I will fight with my dying breath to get back to her. Pulling back, I rest my forehead against hers.

“I love you, Gucci. Just think about it like you’re going on a girls trip and I’m… going away to bond with your brothers.” She snorts out a laugh and that brings a smile to my face. She searches my eyes for a few seconds before kissing me. I try to deepen it but she pulls back and turns, walking away from me without a backward glance as she follows the girls and Luka to their plane. A lump begins to form in my throat as I watch my heart walk away from me. I only look away when the captain lifts the stairs of their private jet and closes the door before he flies away.

“If we don’t make it back, I’m gonna be fucking pissed.” I nod my agreement. “My girl finds out in four weeks what we’re having and it sucks I won’t be there for that scan, but I am not missing the birth of my kids. You fuckers hear me? You have eighteen weeks tops to get in and end this or I’m out.” I can’t argue. If I was in Knight’s position, I would be saying the same thing.

“Come on, we need to get to our plane.” We all ignore Gage and don’t move until the girl’s plane is in the air. We’re flying out of a private airfield a few miles out of town, flying under the radar so we don’t alert the Bratva we’re coming. It’s only the five of us going, Bishop has left Luka to run everything while he is away. He is only to make contact if it is an absolute emergency. None of us can make contact with the girls in case we are being followed. From the moment we board this plane we will all be radio silent. We are literally flying into enemy territory and for the first time since I started working for the agency over a decade ago, I’m worried. I have a sinking feeling not all of us are going to make it back alive.

Gage

Six weeks…

I manage to keep my word and get into the Bratva as a foot soldier. I’m stuck guarding the outside of the club they operate in, never getting a glimpse inside. I haven’t even laid eyes on the Pakhan himself, only a couple of his captains, one of them being the fucker that shot my brother. The morgue’s result came back no match. Bishop and King have given up hope that Rook is alive but Knight hasn’t and neither have I. To give up hope means to give up on Rook and that is something I can’t do… I will never give up on my family. Bishop and I may not see eye to eye all the time but he is blood. I would die for my brothers and sister in a heartbeat. The crackle of my radio pulls me from my thoughts. I wait with bated breath, hoping by some fucking miracle that I manage to get some information or a chance to see Vlad.

“We got a situation out back, go clean it.” I grind my teeth to keep from telling the Russian fucker to suck my dick. Their English is so fucking bad you can barely understand the fuckers. I’ve been studying Russian and learning to speak it since I first found out about them going against my family. I need to be able to understand what they are saying if we are going to end this. We’ve managed to pinpoint who most of the politicians are that work for Vlad thanks to Knight and Vin hacking their bank records and finding large sums deposited into their accounts. “Hurry up!”

“I’m nearly there,” I growl, I’m so fucking over this shit. I’m not the type of guy who can sit behind a desk like Bishop or play on a laptop all day like Knight. Fucked if I know what King does. Vin and I are the same, we’re hands on guys and like to settle things that way. I slam to a stop when I reach the back of the club. The base from the music is louder around this side. I look around the poorly lit alley that holds the dumpsters but see nothing, I’m about to radio back when a figure shifts out of the shadows. I draw my gun and aim at the person’s head, waiting for them to make a move into the light so I can see their face.

“I’m not here to fight.”

“You’re American?” And a girl but I don’t say that out loud.

“No, I’m Russian and I don’t have a lot of time before they notice I’m missing.” The hairs on the back of my neck raise, my senses go into overdrive as the threat of danger becomes apparent.

“Who are you?” My voice is firm and leaves no room for argument.

“It doesn’t matter, all you need to know is that he leaves the country for business in Ukraine in four days. The only guards will be the four you work with and yourself at the house––”

“I only work at the club,” I interject. I can’t see her but I can picture her shaking her head.

“No, you will be moved to the house to make sure no one leaves.” I lower my gun and straighten up as I stuff it back into my waistband.

“I don’t understand what the hell you are saying?” I growl in frustration.
