Hearing his dirty words only turned me on further, causing me to rotate my hips back. His fingers dug into the flesh of my hips and I knew he was enjoying my movements. His breathing sped up as I ground against him.

Once he was ready, he stilled my hips with his hand and began to thrust deeply into me. I moved my hips in time with him, causing him to hit even deeper inside me. Each motion rubbed all the right places, and I was quickly climbing to a second orgasm. As his cock hit my g-spot, I cried out and clenched down on him.

“Fuck, I love when you come on my cock,”he growled.

His thrusts became erratic as he slammed into me and then stilled as he spilled into me. I could feel his cock twitching, and it made me squeeze down again. He groaned, his face now buried in my upper back.

After he slid out of me, I turned so I could face him. He kissed me deeply before smiling brightly at me.

“I couldn’t help myself. You’re gorgeous when you’re sleeping.”

“I’m not complaining,”I laughed.

My happiness came down just a bit as I remembered the day before and remembered why Jaxon was in bed with me alone in the first place. He was always the one to do the sensible things and coming to talk to me about why I was upset would be right in his wheelhouse.

He could see through me without a word. Just like the night before, though he was initially jealous of me talking to the chef, he saw quickly that I wasn’t right. I tried not to let that darken the happiness I woke with. I smiled up at him and nuzzled his neck with my lips.

I had to force Jaxon to leave the bedroom so I could get ready for work on time. Alone, the events of the previous day rushed back, and I tried to compartmentalize, so it wasn’t so painful. I finished off my make up and chose a floral dress for the day. It swirled around my knees and would work great with the black stilettos Oliver had bought me.

Taking a deep breath, I started down the stairs. I steeled myself for the cold shoulder I would get from Aiden. I still couldn’t understand how we had gone backward so quickly. He was different from his brothers. When Gideon got into his guilt and tried to pull away, I knew I could bring him back to me. I knew we had a connection that I could lean on when times were tough. Aiden and I didn’t have that.

I entered the kitchen quietly but froze when I realized Aiden was completely missing. His newspaper was on the island, where he would normally sit to read. Jaxon was sitting at the island, a laptop open in front of him. Gideon was toasting a bagel and was sipping his coffee at the counter. Oliver was looking at a tablet, swiping every so often.

Gideon saw me and he forced a smile onto his face. He wasn’t great at hiding his emotions all the time, especially when he was concerned or stressed. I could see the worry around his eyes now. Jaxon looked at me and his smile was brighter, not as concerned, and I was sure our happy morning helped with that.

Oliver didn’t notice me right away. I snuck up behind him and nipped at his neck, only causing him to jump slightly.

“Gideon, what did I say about keeping your teeth to yourself?”He said.

And just like that, I burst out laughing. Gideon just made some sort of gagging noise across the kitchen, and Jaxon laughed along with me. Oliver turned on his stool until he planted his feet on either side of mine.

“Oh, well, it’s you. I guess that’s alright,”he said dramatically, with a roll of his eyes.

I was still giggling when Oliver wrapped a hand around the back of my neck to pull my mouth to his. The kiss was more than a hello. It was a statement, a reminder, a promise, and I was there for it. I gripped the front of his button-up shirt and heldon as he deepened the kiss. When he pulled away, I was panting, and he had a sexy grin on his face.

Carefully, I made my way to Gideon, who had a bagel and coffee ready for me. There was something about his inherent need to feed me that made me feel close to him. It was his way of showing his affection, while also making sure I was taking care of myself.

I took the plate and mug from his hands and set them down on the island where I would sit. I then turned back to him and leaned into his chest. His big arms circled me as he hugged me tight. Looking up at him, I tugged on his beard lightly, until he leaned down and allowed me to kiss him. When the kiss ended, I just hugged him around the neck, wishing I could just crawl up his body and stay there all day.

Gideon guided me back to the island so I wouldn’t forget my food. Aiden’s spot stayed empty, and I forced my eyes not to wander to it. It was a glaring reminder of how badly things had gone between him and me, after an amazing time under the open sky with the sun setting behind us.

I took a bite of my bagel and ripped it with more force than needed. I was fucking angry and could admit that to myself. Aiden had taken that moment from me, a moment that felt like a damn movie scene. My heart was too wrapped up in all of it and Aiden ripped that all away from me. So, I decided instead of feeling sad, I was just going to be mad.

Under Gideon’s watchful gaze, I finished my bagel, even though it fell like a stone in my stomach. I tried to enjoy my coffee while looking at the three men in the kitchen.

“Oh, don’t forget. I’m going to dinner with Ash tonight,”I said.

All three sets of eyes looked up at me. I saw the moment Jaxon and Oliver looked to Gideon, and the whole situation rankled me. In my already angry state, it wouldn’t take much topush me to fuming. Gideon looked at me thoughtfully and finally just nodded once.

“Didn’t realize I needed your approval. I was really just letting you know,”I said.

With that, I stood up and went to the entryway to get my shoes and bags. I knew Frank was already outside waiting for me and I wasn’t in the mood for some sweet goodbye. I could feel Gideon’s presence before I turned to see him.

“It’s not about approval, Brooklyn. We just want to make sure you’re safe,”he said in a low voice.

When I didn’t respond, and just stooped to slip my feet into my shoes, Gideon took the extra two steps to be right next to me. Once I stood, his big body crowded around me and I took a step back. I knew I probably seemed like a defiant child, but I was really tired of feeling yanked around and controlled.

Gideon’s eyes narrowed as I tried to put distance. One of his large hands came up to my throat, and he guided me back until my back was against the front door. I just continued to glare up at him. Nothing about Gideon frightened me. What worried me more was the moan I had to swallow down as I hit the door.
