His gruff voice persists. “Peri, don’t act like this. Talk to me.”

Damn him.

Swearing under my breath, I climb out of the car, slamming the door behind me with all the same force as the storm above us.

“What the hell was that?” he starts, pointing back at the porch— the place of the incident.

I roll my eyes, crossing my arms over my chest. The rain’s really coming down, but we’re both too heated to do the logical thing and go for cover.

“You should know. You’re apparently the expert. But from my perspective it was called a kiss, but how should I know I’ve only done itoncebefore!”

I doubt you can really consider the first one a kiss. It happened in first grade to a boy in my same class as we promised to marry each other one day. But it still counts, especially when holding onto a V-card as tightly as I am.

Orion runs his fingers through his newly cut hair, overdoing it as he’s not used to the short length. He flashes an extra dose of frustration from the lack of normal soothing.

“That was a fucking kiss alright.” He crowds me against the door of my car, just like he did on the porch. “Best kiss I’ve ever had.”

His Adam’s apple bobs as he swallows and struggles to get out the next few words. “Do you feel it, Peri? Do you feel something for me, too?”

Too? What?

I turn away, glad the rain can hide the angry tears slipping from my eyes. “It doesn’t matter if I do or don’t. You’re planning on going to the city and leaving me! Planning on selling the business and crawling back to people who don’t care about youas much as I do.” I take a deep breath, trembling all over. “Why… Why aren’t you happy here, Orion? Why do you feel the need to change?”

The rain stings as it pelts us both. His normally bright eyes darken as he lowers himself so that we’re at eye level. It’s only a few inches, but he makes the move slowly and deliberately. He braces a hand on either side of my head, somehow careful enough not to trap my curls under his palms.

“Because I need to prove to them that they didn’t break me.”

I still. “You’ve never been broken, Orion. Lost maybe, but not broken.” My hand palms his cheek, and he instinctively leans into it, nuzzling my fingers until I’m cupping from his lips to his ear. “Just be yourself,” I beg him.

Lightning brightens the sky like mid-day as he answers me, “But no one wants me, Peri.”

“I do!” Thunder bellows after my shout.

And now it’s my turn.

I grasp his face and pull him down. This time I lead. I’m clumsy, but I’m passionate and determined. My lips press into his, moving with a desire that’s been lying beneath the surface for far too long.

Orion doesn’t resist. He hooks his hands under my ass, picking me up and pinning me between him and steel. My sopping wet dress bunches at my hips as the hard curve of his groin digs into my barely covered pussy. The friction is delicious as he grinds into me.

My nails dig into his back and pull on his shirt as he draws back from my mouth to attack my neck. He laps at the rain and suckles on my sensitive skin. His teeth graze my shoulder, pushing away the feeble strap. I gasp and thrust my breasts into his chest, my stiff nipples are exposed as the dress slips down my front. I’m probably overreacting compared to other women he’sbeen with and my fears of not standing up to his past wash over me, colder than the rain.

The only touch I’ve ever known is my own.

And at this pace, he might just fuck me outside in the rain, against my car, if I don’t say anything.

There are worse ways to lose your virginity.

As he trails his kisses down to the tops of my breasts, I shiver. I can barely think with the thunder and lightning flashes.

“Shit… this is dangerous,” he growls.

In so many ways.

Orion and I are on the same page as he lowers me to the ground but never lets go of me. Taking my hand, we run back to the porch and inside for shelter.

I should find a towel, but neither of us is thinking about getting dry.

Orion kicks off his boots and has no patience for his buttons, ripping open his shirt.
