“I have a feeling you’re pushing me away, Angel,” he whispers in my ear, and I shiver. “Just two hours ago, you were sitting on my face and begging me to let you come, and now, you can’t even look at me.” I feel my cheeks turn crimson with embarrassment. “So, here’s how it’s gonna work. You’ll shower here . . .” He runs his hand over my thigh and down between my legs. I make way for the intrusion, exhaling in appreciation when his fingers brush my swollen clit. “I’ll drive you home to change, and then we’ll drive to the office together.” He pushes a finger into me, and I groan, burying my face into the pillow. I’m already too weak for this man.
We shower together, and it’s on the tip of my tongue to tell him this needs to stop, but then he drops to his knees and does amazing things with his mouth. When he pulls me down to straddle him, I don’t object. I ride him slow, just how he likes it, and although the guilt is eating me up, I push it to one side and take what I want. Just like the selfish bitch I am.
After our shower, he dries me off and hands me one of his hoodies. It’s oversized on me, almost coming to my knees. I take a pair of his boxer shorts and slip them on too, rolling them at the top to make them fit better.
He drives me to the club in silence, and when we turn onto the road, I can’t hold it in any longer. “Stop,” I mutter. “Stop the car.” He pulls over, looking concerned.
“Another panic attack?” he asks.
I shake my head. “You can’t take me in there,” I say, avoiding eye contact. He remains silent. “What we just did, it can’t ever happen again.” He doesn’t reply, and I sneak a look at him through my hair. He’s staring straight ahead, gripping the steering wheel. “Rosey likes you, and I’ve totally screwed her over.” He inhales sharply, leans over to my side of the car without looking at me, and opens the door. My heart twists as I unfasten my seat belt.
“I’m sorry,” I whisper.
“How long will you punish yourself?” he asks, still looking ahead.
“Rosey’s my friend,” I say feebly.
“You didn’t give a shit about your friend when I was eating you out on the roof of my club. Or when you were riding me in the shower,” he snaps.
I bite my lip. He’s angry. “I’m sorry,” I repeat.
He slams his hand against the steering wheel then jumps out of the car and rounds it to where I’m standing. “Don’t push me away, Meli. You want this, I know you do. I want this too.”
I shake my head, letting tears fill my eyes. “You’re my boss.”
“I can be more.”
I take a deep breath. “I need some time. Can you give me that?”
“It’s not a hard decision, Meli. I’m offering you everything. You just have to take the leap.” He heads back to the driver’s side. “Isn’t it time you made yourself happy?” He gets in and drives away.
“What time do you call this?” asks Mav as I pass his office. I stop and go in to find Grim with him. They assess my outfit. “You’ve been out all night?”
“Rosey said you were in your room,” adds Grim.
“I’m starving. Have I missed breakfast?” I ask.
“Worked up an appetite, did you?” asks Hadley, coming up behind me and gently tugging a strand of my hair.
I wink. “A lady never tells.” I hide the guilt I feel behind a smile.
“I know I said I’d try and back off, but can we please ease me in gently? I’m not ready for this,” says Mav. I laugh, heading out his office for the kitchen.
Rosey watches me closely as I lower into the seat next to her. “You lucky bitch,” she whisper hisses. “Did you fuck Arthur?” I’m so shocked by her direct question, I stare at her without speaking. “Oh man, I knew I shouldn’t have left. I totally should have cockblocked you.”
“You’re not mad?”
“I’m mad as hell,” she hisses. “I wanted him.”
“Oh god, Rosey, I’m so sorry . . .” I burst into tears.
Rosey’s eyes widen. “Hey, I was kidding. Shit, Meli, relax.”
I sniffle, wiping my eyes. “I didn’t mean for it to happen.” I bury my face into my hands. “Fuck, that’s not an excuse.”
She tugs my hands away. “Meli, stop crying. I was kidding. You got him first, I missed out, it’s no big deal.”
“I thought you liked him.”
