“What?” I prompt, seeing the wicked sparkle in her eyes surrounded by the black cat mask.

She nudges her chin in the direction of the bar. “Look who’s here.”

My brows furrow beneath my green mask made of lace that looks like foliage, and I turn my head quickly enough a few strands of my red wig get stuck in my lip gloss. I’m blowing air our between my lips, making spitting raspberry sounds as I try to get the hair out of my mouth, when my eyes finally land on who she’s most definitely referring to up at the bar.

Because they’re currently angled in our direction as they lean against the gleaming wooden countertop, the nightclub lighting playing across that exact spot at the same moment our eyes meet.

Well… not exactly. I can’t see the eyes hidden inside the sexy black hood that hangs all the way down to the impossibly wide shoulders. But I can feel them on me as if they were mere inches away in the bright sunlight.

I gulp.

Literally gulp.

And my heart gives a hard thump before it feels like it just stops beating all together.

Sir Jeremy.

And he’s staring right at me, no question about it.

I don’t know how I know his attention is directed solely on me. Maybe because I’m the weirdo in the bright, almost neon-green getup in an ocean of pitch-black and blood-red. Or maybe it’s the flaming red wig covering my dark length and blonde tips. But suddenly I feel like I stand out like a sore thumb instead of blending right in while I was in this same outfit at the concert just an hour ago, and I immediately start to fold in on myself.

Stopping mid-slump when my phone buzzes in my hand, scaring the shit out of me.

Everyone at the booth is mid-conversation, including Vi, so God only knows how long I was actually staring over at Sir Jeremy like a freaking psycho. But I open my cell with my code, since it doesn’t recognize me with my mask on, and see it’s a message from Zen.

And then my heart that had given up on its duty to keep me alive mere minutes ago suddenly explodes into action as if my nipples were connected to jumper cables when I read what it says.

RomanticSadist:

Uh, uh, uh, little one. Sit up tall and proud. A sub represents her Dom at all times, even when he’s not around her. And my beautiful girl doesn’t want anyone to view her Dom as meek and insecure, does she?

My eyes widen, my mouth falling open as I read the message again and again.

He’s here? That’s what that means, right? Zen is here, and he’s watching me?

My head snaps up, and I look around to see if any of the Doms have a phone in their hand. When my sight lands on Sir Jeremy once again, he’s still facing my direction, and I still get the feeling his eyes are on me. No one up at the bar is using their phone, but there are a few men in the all-black uniform the Dominants here wear, standing along the edges of the dancefloor and sitting at the different tables and booths, I see with their phone screens alighting the masks over their faces.

My attention is pulled back to my own screen when it vibrates in my hand.

RomanticSadist:

Out of your head, princess. There’s only room for me in here right now. Just do as your told and enjoy the quiet, knowing I’ve got you. Understand?

My mind immediately fills with the image of me lying atop Zen’s chest after he gave me our first kiss. The feel of his strong arms wrapped around me, his hands stroking my back and lulling me into a state of relaxation I’d never been able to reach before. The blissful silence inside my mind, no voices, just the dull recognition of the ocean sounds still lightly playing over his truck’s system.

A smile tugs at my lips, and I type out my response. I can overthink this later. Right now, I need to follow my Dom’s order.

Sienna:

Yes, Sir.

RomanticSadist:

That’s my good girl.

The quick, simple message makes me feel floaty, as if I fill with helium and lift up toward the ceiling. Really though, I just sit up tall, my back nice and straight like he told me to.

Chapter Thirteen

FROM FELIX AND SIENNA’S MESSAGES

7:10 a.m. – 11:11 a.m.

Google Chat

RomanticSadist:

Message me on signal. (phone number)

Sienna:

Umm… I texted the phone number you sent, and it started acting weird, Sir.

RomanticSadist:

INVITE: Message Me on Signal

Sienna:

Oh that's a thing. I thought you were saying when I got signal yesterday, as in my signal sucks in the locker room. ???????

Signal app

Sienna:

Good morning, Sir.

I just opened one eye so far, Sir

Zen:

VERY good girl, little one! Now we can text, call, and maybe video chat all in one place, and I can delete all these other apps off my phone. Too many places to check could mean missing something important, so better to keep it all together.
