“You clean, cook, and dance? I have won the lottery with you, young man. I’m very interested in seeing some moves. Just don’t go too hard on me. I’ve always had two left feet. Have I mentioned how clumsy I was as a kid? We should probably talk about that sometime.”

“I shouldn’t make promises I’m not sure I can keep. Let’s just say I used to be able to dance. It’s been a while, so we’ll start nice and easy. Little-known fact: I used to be a hell of a break-dancer.” He gave me a little moonwalk, waiting for my approval.

“Impressive, honey. That gives me some ideas for the reception playlist.”

With a little bow, he turned on a slow song and dimmed the lights so the candles provided a romantic glow. This man made my whole body shiver with excitement. He moved back to me, wrapping one arm around my waist, and we swayed slowly to the beat, my head in his chest. He was an excellent dancer. Spinning me around, he pulled me in close, his lips finding mine in the candlelight. I loved kissing him.

His hand snuck around my waist again, tucking under my shirt this time. Slipping it up my back, he gingerly peeled it off me and never lost the beat. My mouth dropped a bit, wondering where he’d learned the move. I returned the favor, slowly unbuttoning each button as we continued to move in sync. In a few more beats, we were naked, our clothes lying around as we danced our way to the bedroom. He twirled me one more time, his foot catching the door and closing out the world behind us.

EPILOGUE

LANDON

“Honey, your phone is ringing again. Need me to bring it to you?”

I heard her respond from the bedroom and assumed it was a yes. I stepped into the room carefully, tossing the phone on the bed and stepping back out, doing my best not to see her.

Today was the first day of the rest of our lives, and there was no way I was jinxing it.

It had been a little over six weeks since I’d met her and realized she was the love of my life. We’d been through so much in that time. Back in the living room, someone knocked on the door. It was Mickey, from Dina’s. He was dropping off the bakery items, including a cheesecake, just for Tara. She didn’t know I’d added it in at the last minute.

“Good morning! Thanks for bringing these out here.”

“No problem at all. It looks like you’re going to have amazing weather. Give me a call the next time you two come in, and I’ll reserve the best booth.”

I shook his hand and closed the door. Setting everything on the counter and the cheesecake in the fridge, I double-checked to make sure everything was ready. Hearing a knock on the door again, I assumed it was Mickey. Maybe he’d forgotten something? A huge grin spread across my face when I realized I was wrong. It was Shelby and Amelia. I hadn’t been expecting them.

“I thought you couldn’t make it! This is amazing!”

“There was no way we were missing this. We just wanted to surprise you. Tara knew.” Shelby winked.

She and Tara had talked every other day since their initial introduction. Shelby had been incredibly helpful, talking with her about the publishing side of things and connecting her with a few people who could help her with her editorial career. With the attention her article on me was getting, she might not need it. She already had five other assignments on the calendar for when we returned from our honeymoon. It was everything she’d hoped for, and I was extremely proud of her.

“Where is the lucky lady? I would love to meet her in person.” Amelia grinned. She’d been on a couple of phone calls with Shelby and Tara.

After spending ten years with me, the two of them became close friends. I’d joked it was simply a Landon Adams support group, but their bond was strong. No complaints from me. It meant they both had my best interests at heart.

“She’s in the bedroom. I’m steering clear as much as I can. You know that whole ‘can’t see the bride on her wedding day thing.’”

“It’s good of you to pay attention to the rules.” Shelby winked.

“Whatever. The bedroom is through that door.” I chuckled as they walked through the cabin.

After they’d shut the door behind them, I went to check with Aidan and Ian in the backyard. They’d graciously helped clear some of the yard with me, and we’d built a trellis with Tara’s dad for the ceremony. Tara and I still needed to get through the cabins at the front of the property and decide what we wanted to do with them. We’d considered renting them out as extra income or just clearing them. We knew for certain we were adding on to our cabin. We were going to need the room.
