Straddling his lap without putting any weight on his thighs, I leaned down into him, breathing in his scent. It was so faint, but it was still there, the rich, sweet woodsy smell of a human male. My mouth watered for him the way it always had, even before we’d first kissed and long before we’d shared blood.

I held back, though, needing him to come to me.

As much as I loved being aggressive with my other men, I had no idea what Cade had been through.

His hands grasped my arms, and he lifted his chin, beckoning me down. Our lips met briefly, only a brush of a kiss.

“Please, Special K. Don’t treat me like I’m broken,” Cade begged in a whisper. “I’ve never stopped loving you.”

The words broke through my uncertainty, reminding me of how much I hated being pitied. Tightening my thighs around Cade’s hips, I leaned down again and captured his mouth with mine. He kissed me back fiercely, tenderly, everything all at once.

Ten years of waiting. Wanting. Never losing hope and faith inme. I felt every bit of it as his lips closed over mine, his tongue seeking and sucking, pouring himself back into me and pulling me deep inside his heart once more.

“Cade,” I whispered, nuzzling against his neck as his hands slid from my arms to my waist. I wanted to say more, but I couldn’t find the words. He was really here. Whole, even if notunharmed. He remembered me. He still wanted me, even after all the things that had happened to him because of me.

Cade’s hands dropped from my body limply, and I could hear his heart pounding through the pale skin stretched over his ribs.

“Kana, I... I can’t,” Cade said, his breath coming in short bursts. “Too... too fucking weak.”

I could feel the anger and frustration rising in him, and I didn’t know what to do. He was simply not strong enough now to move his body the way he wanted to, and even if I took charge and gave him the best orgasm of his life, I didn’t see how it was going to transfer energy the way Rush had suggested.

It would only embarrass him, highlighting his weakened state and irritating his pride.

I didn’t know how to do what Rush did, transferring pleasure into magic and energy. I wasn’t even sure if Icoulddo that, or if Rush’s magic needed to be involved. Cade had shared me with Nicolas plenty of times before. He didn’t know Rush, but if my fae could somehow help me...

“Rush? Help?” I called, hoping this wasn’t a horrible idea.

CHAPTER FIFTEEN

KANA

“What do you need, love?” my fae asked, coming in from the other room and looking at me uncertainly, his gaze flickering over Cade’s darkened glower.

“You told me my magic grows stronger with pleasure, and I know you can get strength that way, too. Can you... somehow transfer my magic to Cade?” I asked, hoping I wasn’t misunderstanding Rush’s power. Hoping Cade wouldn’t reject this extra step that could heal him faster.

Rush tilted his head, considering his words. “I can. But I’ll need to be with you - with both of you. Touching, at least.”

“Please, Cade. Do you trust me?” I asked, looking down at myaima. He looked wary. “Rush is an energy fae. He can move energy - absorb it from me and give it to you.”

“It’s faster?” Cade rasped, still looking doubtful. “I just want you, Special K. However it has to be... just want you...” His voice faded, his eyes drooping with fatigue again.

“Rush, climb up behind me. Don’t hurt his legs. Does that work?” I asked, guiding my fae onto the bed. He was still clothed, although I quickly peeled off my tunic and shimmied out of my pants. Kneeling over Cade, I smiled down at him, cupping his gaunt cheek in my hand.

“Let me take care of you,” I whispered, and he gave a weak chuckle.

“Yes, doctor. Make me all better.” His hands drifted up to my waist again, the pads of his thumbs stroking the soft skin there as I leaned down to kiss him again. I had always loved when Cade took charge and dominated me, running the line betweenplayful and powerful. It had been thrilling and so different from Nic’s steadfast worship.

But this trust between us was something else. Something that had somehow stayed intact over all these years when the desperate, unfulfilled hunger for each other had threatened to eat us alive from the inside.

Cade tightened his grip on my waist, urging me closer. I worked his shirt up and over his head, and he flushed a little when my fingers stuttered over his ribs, tracing the blown-out veins and bruises with a growing temper.

“Take me away from it all, just like you always did. That’s the magic I want, sugar,” he breathed, reminding me of how intense we’d always been together. Cade had been running from memories his whole life, and being with me helped him forget. He’d told me that dozens of times.

“Let’s forget together,” I said, proving to him that I remembered what I’d always said back. When I was with Acadian Landry, the rest of the world stopped existing around me, and I wanted that more than ever in this moment.

“Feed from me, Kana,” Cade begged, throwing his head back into the pillow and exposing his neck to me. I hesitated, not wanting to take a single drop from him if it meant he would grow weaker, but Rush pressed me gently forward.

“Please. Help me erase her,” Cade pleaded in a raw voice, and my heart lurched at the thought of what memories he needed to forget, once and for all.
