“Craig and I can handle it from here. You don’t have to be in the room all day.” She goes back to taking out everything in her bag, and I feel a tremor of annoyance. She’s not getting rid of me so easily.

“This is the highest priority in my entire company. I’m staying,” I say with a little more force than necessary.

“I don’t need you looking over my shoulder to make sure I’m doing my job.” Meadow straightens to her full height, and even though she’s still shorter than me, I can see that she’s worked herself up to this.

She doesn’t move as I slowly close the distance between us, but she has to tilt her head back to look up at me. “Meadow,” I say, and I love the feel of her name on my tongue. “You’re the only person I trust to do this.” I watch as she swallows hard, and I think about running my tongue along her neck. “And I’m not leaving your side.”

We’re so close that I can almost taste the scent of her lilac perfume. It’s sweet and delicate, but there’s something dark about it that makes me think of hearing her gasp in my ear as I sink into her pussy.

“Heath, I—”

Whatever she was going to say is interrupted as Craig rejoins us in the conference room. The moment is broken, and Meadow is the first to move away as she reaches for something away from me.

“I’ll say one thing, your toilets flush pretty aggressively.” When Meadow and I turn our gaze to Craig, he looks between us. “That’s a good thing.” He shrugs when we don’t vocalize our agreement.

“Let’s get started,” Meadow says and takes a seat on the opposite side of the table as me.
