I nodded. "Yes, I am."

"So, what are you doing here?" He leaned forward slightly as if inviting me to share my secrets.

"Oh, just having fun."

His lips curled into an amused grin, and he sat back in his seat. A waitress came over and the two of them began talking quietly to each other. The waitress appeared to have trouble understanding the man but, soon enough, she left us alone.

"You don't look like you're having much fun," he said.

"Not really." I glanced around the bar and took another sip of my drink, trying not to think too hard about the fact that I couldn't taste anything.

The man noticed my change in posture and leaned forward, placing his elbows on the table. "What's wrong?"

I shrugged. "Nothing. I just get lost in my head sometimes. I think too much, I guess."

He nodded. "That's understandable. You've got a lot on your mind."

"It's nothing." I stood up. "I better get going."

He followed suit quickly, grabbing my hand and holding it tight. "Come here often?"

My heart started racing at the sudden intensity in his voice. "No, I'm not here very often. I only came because..." I trailed off, unsure how to continue.

He squeezed my hand tighter. "Why'd you come tonight?"

"Because I'm bored."

There was a beat of silence before he spoke again. "Is there someone you're looking for? Someone, you want to talk to?"

"Yes," I whispered.

"And you can't find them?"

"I'm right here," Drako said from behind me, "Blaise, I'm surprised to see you here tonight."

The man let go of my hand and stood up, glaring at Drako. "I could say the same about you, Drako," he grumbled before giving me one last look and then walking away.

"Wow! That guy scared you!" Drako said once we'd reached the exit.

"Yeah, well... I don't know him. I should probably get going."

"You going to meet Grayson?"

The hint of jealousy in his voice caught me by surprise. "What does that have to do with anything?"

Drako sighed. "I'm sorry. It's just that I thought you might be interested in him."

I rolled my eyes. "Drako, he's not for me."

"I never said anything about him being for you." Drako crossed his arms over his chest. "All I said is that I thought you might like to hang out with him."

"You think I need a date?" I laughed, although I felt a little embarrassed when I realized he was serious.

"Of course. You're beautiful and smart. If you're single, then why wouldn't you want to take advantage of everything you can?"

"Oh, stop it!" I squealed. "I'm not looking for a boyfriend. And besides, I don't have time to play the field right now. I'll worry about it later."

"If you say so." Drako paused for a moment, turning towards me and taking my hands in his own. "Are you sure you're ok getting to the motel alone?"
