Ellie couldn’t wait to tell her friend Chase all about it, and the next day at work, she headed straight to the computer labs for a little girl talk.

“Chase!” Ellie called out in a stage whisper. It was early, and there weren’t many patrons, but they still liked to keep the rule of being quiet.

“I know if you’re sneaking up on me this early in the morning, there’s got to be a good reason,” Chase said, laughing. She finished her round of the room, switching on each computer before slowing down at the door to smile at her friend.

Ellie almost couldn’t speak. She was so excited.

“Okay, so I have to tell you …” Ellie began.

“About a guy?” Chase cut in, grinning. Ellie’s smile stretched out even wider.

“Yes, Mason. He wants to take me to London!”

Chase frowned. “Like, on a vacation, or …”

Ellie giggled. “For our first date!”

Chase’s eyes widened. Ellie went on to talk about Mason’s wealth, the opulence of the country club, and the casual way he tossed money around. Chase’s eyes widened, and her jaw dropped.

“I’m jealous. That’s it. I’m not even going to try to pretend I’m not. That’s awesome, Ellie. You better take lots of pics!”

“I will,” Ellie assured her. “Constantly.”

Chase grinned at her, a touch of mischief playing in her eyes.

“Constantly?”

Ellie giggled. “Well, maybe not constantly. It depends if anything happens.”

“Are there sparks?” Chase asked. Ellie nodded.

“Definite magnetism, yes,” Ellie replied.

That’s putting it lightly. I wanted to lick him up one side and down the other like he was a giant ice cream cone. He looked at me exactly the same way.

“Why the hesitation?” Chase asked, giving her friend an elbow nudge.

“Well, there were sparks at the event. I’m just hoping they are still there when I see him again.”

“Why wouldn’t there be?”

Ellie shuffled her feet, looking at the floor.

“I just … I’m not sure why he’s interested in me. I’m a librarian, for heaven’s sake. I don’t think it gets more boring than that, even though he does love books.”

Ellie nervously pushed back a stray curl of brown hair, feeling self-conscious about her looks, even though Mason wasn’t even there.

“Look,” Chase said, her tone firm. “He obviously has great taste, and he must love curves. Don’t stress.”

“Hmm. I’ll try.”

Chase grinned, shaking her head. “Ellie, can you find out if this guy has a brother or something.”

Ellie laughed. “I’ll ask. He might have a single friend.”

“Knowing my luck, it’ll be one of his blue-collar workers that doesn’t have a cent to his name.”

“Yeah,” Ellie teased. “But it’ll probably be true love.”
