"What better than performing in front of a plane full of people?" Strike spread his hands to either side.

"You really don't have to do this," I said. "We can just talk."

People around us were starting to turn around and watch. Those who recognized the guys pulled out their phones and started to film.

I rubbed a hand over my forehead. There was no way this wasn't going to go viral.

I looked over the aisle at Roman, hoping he would say something on my behalf, insist they stop and go and sit down. Figures he would be grinning as big as they were. Men. I had a feeling he was a romantic at heart. When he got together with Ripley or some other woman, they would be lucky to have him.

I lowered my hand. "Fine. What have you got?"

"It's a little rough, because I just wrote it," Axel said. He pressed on his screen and the metallic sound of a guitar app echoed through the section of the aircraft.

Of course he'd written me a song.

This time when tears came to my eyes, they were happy ones.

Strike began to sing.

"We didn't always have it easy,

we didn't always know the way.

The only thing I know at all,

is how I feel today.

We tripped and fell while running,

lay sprawled out on the floor.

But we picked each other up and now,

we're soul to soul and more.

I want you for a lifetime,

I need you in my arms.

With you I see forever and,

so far and miles beyond."

The passengers burst into applause and Strike bowed. "Thank you, thank you." He blew kisses left and right. When people finally stopped looking and went back to reading books or watching movies, he said, "That doesn't rhyme."

"I said it was rough," Axel said. "The only other words I could think of were farm and charm. And palm, but that would change the meaning too much."

"Good point." Strike patted him on the shoulder. "I'm going to sit back down before they start serving dinner. Don't want to miss that." He flashed me a grin and disappeared down the aisle.

I wiped away tears. "That was beautiful. You really wrote that for me?"

He crouched beside my seat. "Really. I meant every word of it. Just imagine it was a bit more polished." He actually looked apologetic.

I laughed. "I don't care of it was rough, it was still beautiful. Perfect."

"You're perfect," he said.

Edith tapped my arm. When I turned to her she asked, "Would you like if I swap seats, so he can sit next to you?" Before I could answer, she gathered up her things and stood. I pulled my knees in so she could shuffle past and Axel could shuffle the other way.
