“Oh, yes . . . fuck, Teddy!” I screamed, the words echoing around my room as if I were standing on a mountain I’d summited, my arms outstretched, and high on life. With every responsibility I had forgotten, with no reason to climb down anytime soon, I drifted somewhere in the clouds, completely content.

“Ugh. Need coffee,” I groaned and rolled my heavy head over in my bed before I attempted to open my eyes.

“I hope you have more milk because I just used the last.” A voice came from the doorway of my bedroom.

Wait. “What?!” There were too many things to process in the hazy mess residing in my head right now. That was Cruz’s voice. I was naked, and my hand rested on Teddy’s warm, naked chest. I looked over to see him waking up with his head propped up by large biceps. My eyes widened like a deer in headlights and immediately assessed the clothing situation. With a quick peek under the covers, I relaxed for one second, seeing his jeans were still on. Thank God, but where were my clothes? And what the hell happened last night?

Cruz laughed. It took everything I had to launch a pillow at him.

“Get out!” I yelled.

“Nope, not going anywhere. This is entertaining.” He didn’t budge one inch from where he was propping up the doorway, munching on my favorite cinnamon loop cereal.

The last thing I remembered was screaming Teddy’s name, then we fell asleep in a tangled mess of limbs.

“Fuck, Cruz. What are you doing here?” Teddy rubbed his eyes and finally questioned him with—oof—a scratchy sexy morning voice.

“More like the question should be…” He waved his spoon at us. “What is going on here?”

“Look, what Mia and I have done is none of your business.” Teddy came to our defense and started to stand up, but Cruz held a hand up in the air, stopping him.

“First off, you both get some clothes on before we have this discussion.” He sauntered off down the hall calling back, “I’ll meet you two in the kitchen.”

I grabbed the comforter and cinched it around my waist, then gathered up the sweats that were laying over my chair and rushed to the bathroom to change. When I came back, I fully expected the room to be empty, but I found Teddy dressed and sitting on the edge of my bed.

“Come on, we’ll face him together.” He reached a hand for mine and squeezed it, reassuring me all would be okay.

“Thanks, but last night was a little fuzzy for me. What exactly happened?”

“Hm. What a bummer. I’m sad you don’t recall the multiple orgasms I gave you with my tongue. I think I recall you saying my fingers were very talented right after you screamed my name. But we’ll talk about that later. Let’s go handle your brother right now.” He grinned and pulled me in for a tight hug. I relaxed into him, and a minute later, he released me too soon with a kiss to the forehead.

In the kitchen, my eyes focused straight ahead on the coffee pot. It would take some strong caffeine to survive this conversation with my brother so early.

We all three sat in silence, staring at each other with the coffee pot brewing and Cruz crunching on cereal so loud it hurt my ears. Then he refilled his bowl and kept eating until the damn box was empty.

The coffee maker finally beeped, indicating it had worked its magic, so I fixed Teddy and me each a cup of coffee. I fixed mine with my usual sweet cream and sugar, and his like the Americano he’d ordered when we had coffee at the beginning of the semester. I enjoyed knowing the simple things about Teddy, like how he took his coffee. And maybe last night, rather than screwing around with him when I was drunk, we should have kept things friendly. Now, things were messy.

As soon as I sat down, Cruz started in on us. “So, tell me. How long has this been going on?”

“Actually, less than twenty-four hours,” I answered.

“And what are your intentions for my sister, Theo?” Cruz inquired, crossing his arms in front of him and looking way too much like our strict father.

Teddy looked me straight in the eyes. “If I may speak for us, Mia? I think right now, we’re exploring what this is between us. I know she’s your sister, Cruz, and I’m sorry, but I really don’t give a shit if you’re mad because I have feelings for her,” he answered without a hint of doubt in his voice.

My heart melted all over the floor. If I looked down I might see blood everywhere. Did he just claim me without even asking me in front of my protective brother? I groaned and crossed my arms on top of the table, resting my head in the middle of them. My head was pounding, and I couldn’t deal with this right now. But I desperately wanted to remember what actually happened between Teddy and me last night. If I screamed his name like he said, then damn, it must have been good.

Suddenly, the table shook as Cruz erupted, howling. “You should see the looks on your faces. I’m only kidding you guys. You two are my favorite people, so of course, I’m fine with it. I’m actually really happy for you to get together.”

I tossed my head up, and couldn’t believe what I was hearing. Teddy’s hand calmed me, reaching to steady my nervous, bouncing knee. He brought my other hand to his lips, placing a gentle kiss on the back of it. “I think we’re going to be okay.”

Cruz blessed us. Teddy seemed thrilled. This was the stuff my dreams were made of, my wildest wishes coming true. I should be ecstatic, but I was worried instead. Cruz was only one challenge to overcome of the trifecta between brothers, work, and parents, if there really were ever to be a relationship between Teddy and me.

But mostly, I wanted a do-over from last night. It was so unfair. I wished I were sober so I could remember the feel of Teddy arousing me and doing things to me I’d longed for forever. Everything was a jumbled mess in my brain right now about us, but I knew one thing for certain. I wanted another chance to feel Teddy on me, in me, and doing everything with me.
