“So,” I said, my thumb already hovering over the end call button. “Try not to jump each other at the poolside.”

“Too late, baby girl. Bye!” Cary’s muffled voice broke off.

I had no idea what they were doing but I really hoped they’d leave the other guests alone. No one needed to see someone else’s private parts. Unless your name was Ares. Then, who gave a fuck?

Not me.

Argh! I could scratch my own eye out.

Oh, who was I kidding? It was etched into my brain. I would never get rid of it. Not even a second contusion had the power to erase the image of his long, hard dick moving in his hand.

Frustrated, I threw another pair of boxers in the air, glad I’d left the door ajar so fresh air could waft inside the warm space. My body was hot and tense and in desperate need of some relief.

So, I turned the music up again, drowning out the R&B that was connected to the other room’s speakers, including those outside.

First party in this house and I was already sick of it.

Hordes of people flung around, drinking, shouting obscenities and groping each other as if they were the last people on this earth to get their rocks off.

I was staying far, far away from that hot tub. And after tonight, I was not cleaning it either.

The song changed, and Víctor Manuelle’s voice streamed into the laundry room. Goosebumps erupted on my skin, and I flung the khaki shirt back into the basket, the piece of clothing barely hanging onto the edge. My hips followed the rhythm as I increased the volume, giving in to my desire to move.

After a while, I was hot and the headache lingering all day came on stronger. Luckily, I’d kept my medicine close by these days. Going through a throng of people gave me the hives, but I shouldn’t back off for a bottle of water to take my pills with.

I shut down the music app and closed the door, knowing well enough no one should pass these private halls. Fancy much.

The fridge stocked enough alcohol to drown out an entire army but I couldn’t spot a single bottle of water. I grabbed a glass and fill it up with tap water instead, and quickly swallowed down the pain killer.

“Hi!” a girl greeted me when she dug into the fridge. She had red streaks in her dark blonde hair, giving it an almost orange glow, and cute freckles on the bridge of her nose. She mixed her drink, accidentally pushing another girl aside. “Whoops, sorry, Bianca.”

Bianca’s lip curled into a sneer, and she stalked off. The other girl just shrugged. “Guess I stepped onto her Manolo Blahnik.”She shook the bottle of cranberry vodka, asking me, “Anyway, want some?”

I declined. “No, thanks.”

She shrugged and stalled, watching me as she lazily sipped her drink. “I’ve never seen you around here.”

I rotated my body, settling my butt against the counter like she had, and realized she wasn’t the only one staring at me. “I recently moved here.”

Droplets of vodka landed on my arm as the straw slipped from between her lips. Her excitement was refreshing after being mostly given a wide birth to the grumbling, brooding twins these past ten days.

“Oh, really?” She asked, and I nodded. “Where is here exactly?”

“Here,” I vaguely explained.

Her eyes widened, and echoed my response, “As in here here?”

“Yup.” I gulped some water down.

“Are you sure? Because a lot of girls go cuckoo,” —she twirled a finger at her temple— “over the Volt boys but I don’t think stalking is—”

“I have a room upstairs,” I cut her off. “Trust me, I wouldn’t walk the same marble halls if my mom hadn’t married their dad.”

“Ah. So, are you off limits? Or what’s the reason behind why they haven’t introduced you yet?” she asked while waving to another girl who sweetly winked at her. “Hey, Carmen.” The girl downed a shot of something strong and offered her one too. “Nah, thanks. DD tonight. This will be my only drink.”

The girl pouted, refilling her shot glass, and left in search of another victim.

“So?” My new friend turned back to me.
