Ares could do things like that.

But I was adamant. He was not going to have access over my fine motor skills again. No, my body was mine.

If you want to survive.

That sentence had spun around so many thoughts lately. I should be careful with words. With everything, really. Controlling my bodily response to him had been wiped from the intimacy map. Never too late to try and fight it, though. He would not make me bow again.

I settled both hands on his pecks, fisting his shirt and tilting my head, giving him the possibility to dive in if he wanted to.

The corner of his mouth pushed up, pleased I was melting under his molten gaze.

“Good girl.” He kissed my jaw.

“A good girl wouldn’t do this,” I threatened before his eyes turned wide and his knees collapsed from its sockets.

He cupped his groin, doing the best job not to break down in front of me. “You fucking kneed me in the balls?” He laughed through his pain. “Good God, Dita. No mercy.”

I squinted my eyes at him, swallowing down how hot I thought it was that he stayed upright and practically murdered me with that daring look. “Remember that next time.”

The smile on his face was ominous and hungry. A weird combination that rattled me temporarily.

“Why don’t you kiss it better, sweetness?” He’d recovered way too quickly, rubbing his junk against my hand.

I looked down, where he was…hard?

I stomped my foot to which he broke out in dark laughter. “Come on, prude.”

I opened the door and fled, hearing his immature suggestions reverberate through the hallway.

“No, don’t leave me. Please, prude.” He dramatized his fake begging. “I promise you’d love my cock in your mouth.”

His cackle infuriated me, leaving me wanting to suffocate myself into my own lavender-smelling pillow.

DITA

Rio’s tongue stuck out at the left corner of his mouth. Despite being identical twins, he did have a softer appearance than his brother. Less bark, and definitely less bite.

With deep, penetrating dedication, he mustered all his attention at that piece of paper in front of him. That was probably the reason he hadn’t noticed my presence yet. It was nice to observe the behavior of a creature without getting pounced on.

A pencil in hand and with thick, black eyebrows bunched in concentration, I wondered what kept him so busy.

I tiptoed around in my ankle socks, trying not to give away the urge to see what he was doing.

My eyes widened when I glimpsed his sketch.

“Oh, wow. That’s… detailed.”

I pulled back when Rio shot up, dodging a fractured nose as he emerged from his concentration. The beautiful drawing was turned over too quickly.

He blocked me before I could snatch it. The hand around my wrist felt strong and demanding, two attributes Ares had controlled me with. But the fizzle in my spine didn’t occur.

“How long have you been here?”

“Not that long,” I turned around after he loosened his grip and grabbed us both a decaffeinated coffee—our mutual sunshine in a cup without having the jitters later this evening. “Just in time to see you outline the dude’s…package.”

My shoulder sagged. I just couldn’t say it.
