"There must be downsides to being together so much," Anders suggested.

"Like what? Cord asked, turning it back on the journalist.

I tried to ignore Roman when he stifled a laugh.

"Like you may get tired of seeing each other every day," Anders said.

"Nope," Cord said. "We like seeing each other every day."

"Harper." Anders looked back at her. "Would you agree with that? You like seeing each other often. It must be very tiring when he is surrounded by fans so often."

She laughed. "I'm used to it. I've been on tour a few times with other bands. It comes with the territory."

Anders started to look frustrated. Clearly they weren't giving the answers he hoped they'd give. Or the dirt.

"What about groupies?" he pressed. "It can't be much fun having women throw themselves at your partner?"

That question hit home for me. I hadn't seen Axel with anyone else, but it was only a matter of time. When it happened, it was going to rip my heart out. I would have to accept it, whether I liked it or not. I made my bed and invited him into it. Now I was going to have to suck it up.

"There's plenty of groupies throwing themselves at Harper," Cord said with a grunt.

Anders, who apparently sensed an angle here, asked, "How do you feel about that?"

Cord gave him a sly grin. "Why would she want ground beef when she's traveling the world with steak?"

Strike snorted a laugh, but Harper nodded.

"Exactly," she said. "Cord has nothing to worry about any more than I have to worry about him sneaking off with someone else."

"Harper would take his kneecaps if he did," Jude quipped.

They all laughed, including Anders.

"And how about you, Jude?" The journalist turned his attention to the keyboard player.

"What, no Mr Harrison?" Jude teased.

"Mr Harrison," Anders said carefully.

Jude grinned. "Jude is fine. What do you want to know?"

"Your girlfriend is also part of the tour," Anders said.

Jude nodded and waited, his head turned slightly to the side. "Yeah, and?"

"Since I can't talk to her," Anders bristled visibly, "how does she feel about groupies?"

I looked over to Mel who grimaced at the question.

Jude took it in his stride. "She's not bothered by them. I'm sure you know we've waited a long time to be together. The last thing I'm going to do after that is screw it up. Although, look at her. Why would anyone cheat on a woman so beautiful?" He turned soft, puppy dog eyes on her.

New life goal, get a guy who looks at me the way Jude looks at Mel. One without all the complications of Axel.

I looked over to see him looking at me. When he smiled, my heart did a silly flip. I doubted he would ever smile at me without me getting butterflies. Another very good reason to stay as far away from him as I could, as soon as I could.

"I have no idea," Anders said. "Sometimes people do dumb things in the heat of the moment."

I must have imagined it, but I could almost swear he looked at Axel when he said that. It certainly summed up that night, in retrospect. I had no doubt Axel would agree if he knew I was pregnant. What had he said about not liking to have regrets? He would have them if he knew. How could he not?
