Grabbing a blanket off the chair, I wrap it around her shoulders and bring her over to the couch.
Once we are seated, I pull her close, rubbing my hands up and down her arms to try to warm her up.
When she’s finally stopped shivering, I look down at her. “How about I make us some coffee and get a fire going?”
She just nods.
As I get to work, it finally dawns on me that she’s here. Jenna is here—in my house. She came to see me. I have no idea why, but I’m happy in whatever capacity it is.
When I return with two mugs, I hand one to her and sit next to her once again.
We both take a few sips before I finally start to speak. “Okay, Jenna, do you want to tell me why you braved a snowstorm to come over here and see me?”
She looks up at me, her blue eyes seeming bigger than usual. “Jessie told me you came looking for me at the house—and then came looking for me at school.”
“Oh…” I have no idea what else to say.
“Yeah,” she pauses for a second. “Shane, why didn’t you ask me to move in with you?”
Running my hand over the beard I’ve been growing, I think for a moment. “Jenna, I couldn’t be the only reason you stayed. What if you resented me after a while? The next day, I realized I was being stupid and that I could find a way for you to have both, but you were already gone. Then, I went to school, and you seemed so happy. I just couldn’t ruin that.”
She holds her hand up to stop me. “Shane, remember me telling you that I’m good at pretending I’m fine when I’m actually not? I wasn’t happy. I haven’t been happy since I left. Sure, I like the job, but I miss you, damnit. I need you to stop acting like you know what’s best for me. I’m a big girl and can decide what I want.”
“And what is it that you want?” I ask.
“Well, I just walked in a snowstorm and waited on your porch long enough to worry about frostbite. What do you think I want?”
Without answering, I grab her by either side of her face and pull her toward me, pressing my lips against hers. Her skin still seems cold under my touch, but I fully intend to warm her up.
It takes no time for her to open up to me, and my tongue slips into her mouth, lightly dancing with hers.
There is no way for me to explain the feeling of relief having her here in my arms. It’s better than heaven. It’s like the weight that has been pressing down on me the past month has suddenly lifted.
Our hands run all over each other as though we aren’t sure where we want to focus on first. As much as I would love to take my time and kiss every inch of her, I have a feeling this is going to be all heat and fierce passion.
Pulling back to look at her, I say, “I’m so sorry, Jenna. I was a fucking idiot.”
She puts her fingers over my lips to quiet me. “It doesn’t matter. All that matters is that we are here now.”
“I love you, Sunshine.”
She smiles. “Do you know how long I’ve been waiting to hear you call me that?”
Chapter Fifty-three
Jenna
Good lord, I forgot how good the man is at making out. The way Shane kisses me is like I’m the oxygen he so desperately needs when he struggles to breathe.
His newly grown beard tickles my face, and I can’t help but wonder what it would feel like rubbing against my thighs as he went down on me. Knowing Shane, I won’t have to wait long to know what that feels like.
Grabbing the hem of his t-shirt that I’m wearing, I pull it over my head, and his hands immediately get to work on teasing my nipples. Every touch electrifies me and makes me crave even more.
His mouth leaves mine and moves down to suck each stiff peak into his mouth as his tongue swirls around it. I let out a soft squeal when I feel his teeth lightly sink into them. The pleasure mixed with the pain is enough to drive me insane.
And just as I expected, he leans me back, pulls off my shorts, and gets to work on eating me out. His tongue flicks against my clit, switching between the amount of pressure he applies. And that beard of his just adds to the sensations.
It feels incredible, and I’m sure it wouldn’t take me long to get off, but I want him inside me.
