“Did he mention anything?” I asked. “A battle plan? Course of action?”

“To be honest, I don't think he actually has one,” Hunter replied. “He tried to look tough and prepared, but I could tell he had no idea what to do next.”

“It looks like he realized it, too,” I smiled.

“Realized what?” He raised a brow.

“The battle he's about to fight is already a lost one,” I said.

“Couldn't he just come out and say who he is?” He asked.

“Poor simple-minded Hunter,” I sighed as I shook my head. “People already think he's dead. They would assume it's a doppelgänger.”

“What about a blood test?” He continued.

“There's no way I would let a doppelgänger have my blood for a test sample,” I replied. “Even to the public, it would seem preposterous.”

“There is one problem, though,” Hunter said. “Your mother.”

Ahh…that's true.

When the killer replaced Nick's body with another one, mother didn't believe it was Nick from a glance, and even after the burial ceremony, she still didn’t believe that Nick was gone.

If Nick came along now, requesting a sample, she’d gladly bleed. However…

“It’s no matter. That has already resolved itself,“ I said.

“Really? How?“ He seemed confused.

“Well, after Nickdied,my mother detached herself from all of Parker Corp,” I explained. “She asked for no contact, and no one knows where she currently is.”

“Did you try looking for her?” he asked.

“Of course I did,” I answered honestly. “I couldn't bear the fact that she left before I assumed power. Kind of made all the effort seem worthless.”

“Well…was it worthless?” he asked.

“Nope.” I smiled. “I don't regret it. I've protected my father's legacy.”

“About that, you realize the company isn't doing too well,” he informed.

“I don't need you to repeat the exact words I've heard in the board meetings both last week and today,” I said. “Now I already have a plan to solve it.”

“You're finally diversifying?” he asked.

“Yes, indeed, I am.”

“It's already too late for that, don't you think?”

“It's never too late,” I replied. “Let me say, an opportunity presented itself.”

“I'm afraid I don't follow,” he sighed.

“It's quite simple. Parker Corp partners with another company under the words of 'I do',” I replied. “In summary, I'm getting married.”
