“My, my, how dashing,” she giggled. “If your brother was still alive, I’d have had you both say that at the same time.”

She giggled some more.

Even her laughter was innocent.

“Now then,” she said, and suddenly the atmosphere around her changed. She still wore a smile, but there was a glint of seriousness. “How is the company doing financially?”

The shareholders were different to the board. While I had power over the board, the shareholders didn’t answer to me. It was a strange way to operate, but it was how Dad secured it.

“Well, we’ve been in decline for a little while, but I am making plans to…” I tried explaining myself.

“Aww, come on, Blake darling, we’re running a business here,” she said. “You can’t keep makingplans. Weneed concrete action or proof that you know what you’re doing. The shareholders aren’t really pleased with you.”

“It’s just a slump for the moment,” I defended. “I’m working things out.”

“Well, I don’t really care about what happens to the company as long as you’re the one in charge,” she sighed.

Wow, no mercy from this hag.

“Did you call me a hag?” she asked.

“Wait…what, no?” I replied.

Now she was reading minds?

Father was right about how random she could be. Best to approach with caution.

“Well, I think your brother was right about how the company could build towards a prosperous future,” she said. “You should diversify.”

“But that would be straying from what my father had in mind. It would not be his legacy anymore,” I replied.

“Well, if that’s the case, then it’s best you partner with another company,” she said. “If Parker Corp co-owns another company that already diversifies its services, then there would be no need to start diversifying from the root, which is us.”

“That’s…genius,” I admitted.

Honestly, why didn’t I think about that in the first place?

“That’s really a good idea, ma’am,” I repeated.

She frowned.

“Ah…sorry, I meant that’s a good idea, lady,” I corrected myself, and the smile returned to her face. “However, the only problem is buying the company.”

“Who says anything about buying a company?” she raised a brow.

“Well, a partnership is one thing but if we really want to control ourselves properly, buying seems like an easier choice,” I said.

“Well, what if I told you that the only money you would be spending on this partner I have in mind will just be limited to a wedding gown, cakes, and a reception hall?” she asked. The childlike innocence had returned to her face.

“I’m afraid I don’t follow,” I said.

“Marriage, silly,” she chuckled. “Your best bet would be to marry someone already making a name for herself and is slowly climbing to the top. She’ll rely on you for connections and sex while you rely on her for what her brand stands to offer.”

“Did you say sex?” I raised a brow in question.

“Yeah, I did. She’s a total nympho and needs to be tamed,” she explained. “She’s a sweet girl, but isn’t willing to bow to anyone. Which means she’s unwilling to settle down. And that’s whereyoucome in.”

“So you want me to wife the lady you’re talking about?” I asked. “And that would help the company?”
