“Well, I did contact her once,” he said.

“You did what?!” I didn’t realize I had raised my voice.

“Calm down. As I said, it was only once,” he responded calmly. “It was when your memories started returning. The time when you met Aria, I suppose.”

“Yeah, so what did she say?”

“I didn’t tell her per se that you were alive,” he replied. “I just told her about my sins. I didn’t even mention Blake’s involvement.”

“I see. Is it possible to give me the contact you used?” I requested.

“That’s no problem. I can even help you find her,” he offered.

“You can? But you said there’s no way of finding her.”

“For others, that is, it’s a cakewalk for me,” There was confidence in the way he spoke. “My real name isn’t even Hunter. I earned the name for a reason.”

“Heh, when all this is over, you have to tell me who the hell you are,” I chuckled.

“Indeed, I shall,” he replied. “Godspeed, Nick.”

“You too, Hunter.” I returned.

“One more thing, don’t let Aria out of your sight,” Hunter added.

“Believe me, Aria is way stronger than I am,” I said. My statement earned me a hand squeeze and a kiss on the cheek from Aria.

“I know, but still,” he continued, “Blake is…well…unstable.”

“I understand, but he doesn’t know about Aria,” I replied.

“Take care, Nick,” he sighed.

The line went dead.

“That was a long conversation,” Aria remarked. “I take it you were able to sort things out with him.”

“Well, yes, for the most part,” I replied. “I still have issues trusting him, but something tells me he’s on my side.”

“Well, that’s a good thing,” she said. “Now you have two allies.”

“And I couldn’t be more grateful,” I replied as I held her waist and pulled her to me in a kiss.

We kissed for a minute before someone walked in.

“Ah, I see Hotel Hospital is still having customers,” the doctor said.

“Hehe, we’ll be lodging out now,” Aria said. “Thank you for your service.”

“Well, you’re always welcome back here,” he said, then turned to me. “Try to avoid being in any more accidents. You wouldn’t want to lose more of your memories.”

“I will try my best,” I replied. “Thank you, doctor.”

At that moment, it had never crossed my mind how off that conversation was.

“So I’ll be heading home now,” I said. “Do you mind dropping me off?”

“Dropping you off where? Your home after all that happened? Nuh uh, you’re coming with me,” she said as she pulled me to her car.
