“Don’t sweat it,” she replied. “When you’re done explaining what happened to her, you better come explain to me.”

“Sure thing,” he replied with a smile.

“Alright, enough bonding, let’s go,” I said while pushing him upstairs.

We got into my office, and I shut the door behind me.

“Okay, answers now,” I crossed my arms. “Why are you injured? Why didn’t you speak to Aisha? And why can’t I contact you?”

“Relax, boss,” he chuckled lightly. “Alright, I made contact with Matilda, and she had set up the meeting with Aisha. However, Aisha said she’d have to meet with me in 2 days, which is tomorrow. So I figured I would come back home.”

“That’s a good idea, I guess,” I replied.

“What’s this? You don’t want me coming back so early?” he smirked.

“Watch your mouth, kid. It’s not like I missed you or anything,” I said as I punched him in the shoulder. “So, how did you get hurt?”

“Maybe someone realized it was me and contacted Blake, but I was being followed,” he explained. “One of them hit me in the head, and the other was about to before I fought back.”

“I didn’t know you were a fighter,” I was impressed.

“Well, I may have forgotten, but my body remembers that I was a good fighter,” he said. “You’re looking at a Black Belt Judo holder.”

“Nice, I’m a Black Belt in Taekwondo,” I said proudly. “You and I can have a one-on-one when you’re all healed up.”

“You’re on. I don’t plan on losing,” he said as he made a fist. “Come at me in full force.”

“You’ll go down,” I said proudly. “So? What’s next?”

“I don’t really know,” he sighed.

“Well, I was thinking maybe you could contact Hunter and ask him if he’s progressed with finding your mom,” I said. “Maybe he has some leads.”

“I could call, but I lost my phone in the scuffle,” he said. “Also, make sure you don’t answer any calls from that number. Chances are that the goons my brother sent might have given it to him.”

“True, and considering how rich your family is, he could track and find you here if he calls,” I replied. “I’ll have to tell the team members not to answer any call from the number.”

“That’d be great,” he sounded relieved.

I rubbed his chin. “You’ll be fine.”

He nodded, then smiled, and he opened his arms. I accepted his embrace.

“My memory’s shaky…when was the last time I told you I love you?” he asked.

“I don’t think you have…ever,” I teased as I circled my arms around his neck.

“Surely you’re kidding,” he laughed a little. “Aria Wolfe, I love you.”

“I love you too, Nick Parker,” I said. “And don’t forget it.”

“I see what you did there,” he chuckled a bit.

“Which reminds me, I was discussing with Michael about your memory loss,” I said. “Should I tell the team about it?”

“Well, yes, that would make things a lot easier,” he replied.

“Also, are your memories aligning properly?” I asked.
