“Nice not having to walk in alone.” She threaded her hand with mine, and I curled my fingers around hers, consummating the connection.

With her free hand, she shut the door and engaged the deadbolt. She turned and faced me, looking at me from beneath her long eyelashes.

“Can I…have another kiss?” She blushed. “I might be a little addicted to them.”

“That’s an addiction I’ll gladly enable.” I pulled her along with me as I strode across the small room to the fridge. “Might want this in the fridge or it’ll land on the floor.”

She laughed. “Like outside.”

I shoved the milk inside, then spun and yanked her into my arms. I claimed her mouth a little harsher than I’d intended, but she only sighed. Thank goodness. I didn’t know what her past was, so I needed to keep things light. Tender.

But that was going to be difficult. The way her body formed to mine, softening against me, I had a hard time reeling myself back.

She gave as good as she took, though, meeting my every movement. She drew me in, toying with the stud in my tongue, and that sent another jolt through my body.

“Jacket,” I said against her mouth. “Just the jacket.”

She released her hold on me, and I reached for the buttons on her jacket. Her eyes were wide and her lips swollen and shiny. “That tongue ring was every bit as amazing as I’d imagined.”

“Been imagining me?” I waggled my eyebrows as I worked my way through the last button on Sarah’s jacket.

“More than I’d planned on,” she said.

“Planned, huh?” I pushed the leather back, exposing her sexy, body-hugging dress. “You plan everything?”

“Mostly…but you kinda shattered that,” she said sliding her hands along my chest until they were beneath the jacket. I hadn’t zipped it, but she didn’t push it off. Instead, she wove her arms around my waist and nuzzled my neck as if she wanted to crawl into my jacket. “Warm. Safe,” she whispered.

That’s right. I’d take care of her. No matter what. “You are safe with me.”

Tender lips dusted my neck followed by warm breath, and that nearly undid me. “I am. I know that now.”

She pushed up and nipped at my lip. I cupped her face and tilted her head as I dove in again; she wasn’t the only one addicted. There was a hint of the wine laced with the sweetness of the cheesecake and strawberries we had for dessert.

Her ears were cold so I worked my way to them, kissing a line along her jaw and sucked in an earlobe. She giggled but pulled me closer.

“Like that?” I kissed the smooth skin behind her ear. “I’ll find a ticklish area sooner or later.”

“Not ticklish.”

“No girl isnotticklish.”

“You’ve met your first,” she said. “But you can try all you want. I won’t mind. Really.”

That sounded fun, and I might eventually take her up on that. There were a few key places I’d like to start, but it was too soon. I’d only just gotten her trust. Had to keep things sane for now.

She threaded her fingers through my hair and gripped it, tilting my head. She explored, brushing against every surface in my mouth, tasting, pushing…she really hadn’t kissed before, had she?

Hell, she could practice on me all night long. I had no problem with that!

Chapter Twenty-Two

Sarah

Myeyesshutforthe fifteenth time in the last five minutes. I wasn’t going to be able to stay up much longer, but I hated the idea of asking Drey to leave. Wrapped in his arms, bathing in his scent, Ialmostconsidered asking him to stay the night instead of leaving.

But I couldn’t chance it. The nightmares would come, I couldn’t stop them, and there was no way I wanted him around during that. Then again, I’d dozed while at his apartment after he’d been hurt. Maybe…

No!
