“Sorry boss, hope I didn’t interrupt anything,” the voice laughed.

“Morris, you better have something for me. I am a man on his honeymoon.”

“Well…yes and no.”

“What does that mean Morris, you either found something or you didn’t.”

“That’s just it, what I found was nothing. There’s no trail of what she did with the money. She either spent it on something the second she got it or she’s sitting on it.”

“Thanks Morris, keep digging. I want to know what she’s doing with that money. There’s no way she spent it all.”

“Why don’t you just turn her in?” Morris asked.

“Because the authorities would then get involved, which means the press would then get word of it, which means the public loses faith in the company and no amount of mygrandfather’s money will save it this time. Find what she’s done with the money.”

“I’ll keep searching boss, enjoy your honeymoon.”

“Shut the hell up Morris and find my damn money,” Wyatt said harshly as the water stopped. This was going to harder than he’d anticipated. He’d lost his head, his cool last night, ruining his best chance of getting her to admit what she’d done and how she’d done it. He pulled on some clothes before heading back into the bedroom to apologize for last night again.

Gabby was pulling on a sweater as he appeared and she felt her pulse quicken whether in fear or anticipation of another round of ‘where’s my money’ she didn’t know.

“What?” she stated when he said nothing.

“I wanted to apologize for last night Gabby. Neither of us was anticipating the difficulty of yesterday and by the time we got up here, we were beyond rational thinking. I took things too far and…”

“It doesn’t matter Wyatt,” she stated cutting him off. “You own me after all, right?”

“I swear I could strangle you sometimes Gabby.”

“Ah but then you’d have to explain to the press why you killed your wife, and how would that affect business?”

“Accept my apology or don’t. I don’t give a damned…you don’t have to worry about me touching you like that again.”

“Good, it wasn’t exactly memorable,” she said sending him out of the room in a huff.

Chapter 2

“What do you mean you still have nothing?” Wyatt yelled at the man sitting across from his desk. “It’s been four months since the damned wedding…four months of you listening to everything she says on her damned phone and you have nothing?”

“She’s smart boss, wasn’t that why you hired her in the first place?”

“Yes Gabby is smart, hell she almost got away with it, if she hadn’t gotten greedy then we’d never have known the extent of what she took, but she can’t be letting it sit somewhere unattended. You were supposed to follow her, check her old apartment, her email, anything you could get into to figure out where the money went.”

“I’ve tried boss and I’ve still got a few options up my sleeves but all in all…she’s holding it close to the vest. Maybe she’s on to us.”

“You think she figured out she’s being watched?” Wyatt questioned.

“I’d say a girl as smart as Gabby would put two and two together and get four. I know you don’t like clichés but it’s the truth boss.”

“Pull back then. Maybe if she thinks we’ve given up on finding the money she’ll slip.”

“You’re the boss,” Morris said getting up. “By the way, enjoy the duck tonight.”

“Duck?” Wyatt asked confused.

“It’s what your wife’s serving at the dinner party.”

“Ah, right, I’d forgotten about the little shindig we’re hosting. Speaking of which, I should head home to change for it, can’t have the wife entertaining guests alone.”
