“Sorry love but you’ve lost me.”

“Wyatt and I have been getting some notes in the mail at home. I think they’re just the kids in the neighborhood playing pranks but Wyatt’s insistent that they’re real, so he’s now hired me a personal bodyguard. Do you have any idea how impossible it is to shop with some hulk of a man standing around watching you? I feel like I’m under constant surveillance, and I even forgot my phone charger, which is so not like me, and now my phone’s dead. Could I possibly use your computer to charge it?” she inquired knowing her friend would say yes.

“Absolutely, I’m sure you’re going crazy what with your dad going to the ER last week. How’s he doing?” Abby asked letting her sit at her desk.

“Better I think…oh shoot, Mom wanted me to look a few things up. She’s still living in the dark ages as far as computers and the internet go, do you mind?”

“Considering you practically own the place not really,” her friend said.

She was a horrible friend but she had to get into the system and figure out what Morris was working on. She loaded the preset internet sites that she’d already looked up for her mom and then found her way into Morris’ drives. She was surprised at how little he really had, but he was slowly working his way around to discovering her overrides, but with a few twists here and a few added layers she was sure it would take him ages still to figure out how she did it. She glanced at the time and decided to put a trace on his work. If he uncovered one of her links, it would give her enough time to put another in so he wouldn’t get too close.

She’d just finished when Wyatt showed up in the doorway.

“Gabby, what are you up to?” he asked.

“Mom’s flipping out…she’s trying to come up with some salt free recipes that Dad will eat and then she keeps asking what all these medical terms are, but of course she won’t take my word she wants to see it,” she admitted.

“I see,” he said and she laughed.

“Would you like to see what the inside of a diseased heart looks like?” she said flipping the monitor around giving him access to the information she’d brought up. She knew he would have Morris go through the system tonight to make sure she hadn’t taken any more money but neither of them would be able to discover what she’d been in other than these websites.

“That makes me not want to eat now Gabby,” he told her turning the screen back. “Come on let’s give Abby her office back and you and I can continue our negotiations regarding Justin.”

“Justin?” Abby said.

“The bodyguard, you should come meet him…he’s right up your alley.”

“I think I can find my own dates Gabby. Have fun…oh Gabs your phone.”

“What would I do without you?” she asked hurrying over for it. “You saved my butt.”

“What are friends for?”

“See you later,” Gabby told her as Wyatt ushered her back towards his office and the elevator.

“What were you really up to Gabby?” he asked after he told Justin they’d be going to lunch and he’d drop her off at home.

“Well thanks to your decision to hire a bodyguard for me and have me chauffeured around like an infant I left my phone charger in my car and it died. I knew Abby had one in her office and I was using it. Mom sent me a text asking for the recipes and information so while I was waiting for you to finish Donald off, oh sorry, for you to finish your meeting with the SEC rats…err, investigators, I used her computer to look it up. Honestly,do you think I’d risk doing anything under my friend’s login? I’d use yours Wyatt,” she teased him as he handed her into his car.

“You wouldn’t be able to get on with mine Gabby,” he said. “It’s double password protected.”

“Probably with the first being something along the lines of your college mascot and numbers…the year you graduated I’d say, and the second is probably a combination of my birthday and our anniversary? Tell me I’m wrong Wyatt.”

“You’ve hacked into my account?” he asked almost slamming on the brakes.

“No…not yet at least, but honestly Wyatt, I know you. What’s wrong lover? Afraid of what I’ll find in there, or what I won’t find?”

“Let’s get one thing straight Gabby, if there’s one red cent missing I won’t worry about what anyone else will think or say, I will nail you to the wall.”

“I didn’t realize you were so kinky Wyatt.”

His hands clenched on the steering wheel and she grinned looking out the window. She was coming up with another idea regarding the trail when she realized they’d passed the restaurant.

“You missed the turn Wyatt,” she told him.

“We’re not going to the restaurant Gabby,” he huffed.

“Honestly, you’re so touchy lately. Isn’t that supposed to be my prerogative? After all, I’m the one who’s pregnant.”
