“It’s about the Winder deal,” he told him.

“Excuse me,” Wyatt said looking round the table, “I’ll be back in a few minutes.”

Gabby watched them go knowing the Winder deal was really about her and the missing money. She needed to get to a computer and find Donald, there was no way she’d let him get close to Haley and Jess again.

“What’s this about?” Wyatt inquired.

“I looked into Gabby’s past and there’s nothing there. Not in her history, her families’, or anything that would require her need for that sort of money…there’s something else. I got in touch with her old college roommates and they say there was someone she was close to but they never met whoever it was. Most of them assumed it was someone older, someone she didn’t want it coming out that she was involved with.”

“A man in other words? A professor maybe?” he suggested.

“Whoever it was, there’s nothing to tie them together…no photos, I’ve checked her computer her storage boxes and there’s nothing there so she’s either gotten rid of them or she’s hid them somewhere I can’t uncover, like the money. I can’t say if it was a man or a real friend, sorry boss but the girl’s smarter than any of us credited her with.”

“See if you can get into her past medical records…I don’t want anyone aware of this but it’s possible that Haley is Gabby’s daughter and that she’s currently living with someone named Jess,” Wyatt said quietly.

“No way, she would never have let you keep her away from her kid, especially not for a year,” Morris argued.

“She might have if it kept her daughter from Donald Graves’ grasp…and one more thing, check into Graves’ whereabouts the day Gabby was mugged, for some reason I think it’s directly related to him.”

“Will do boss but there’s no guarantee that I’ll be able to get into her medical info. That stuff is protected even tighter than Fort Knox.”

“Find a way into it and whatever is going on between you and Joan knock it off until we have this situation resolved.”

“Sure thing boss,” Morris said shooting a glance over his shoulder at Joan. “I’m pretty sure Joan won’t forgive me anyway so what’s the point?”

“You’d be surprised what a person in love will be willing to forgive,” Wyatt sighed.

“Sounds like you’re speaking from experience.”

“Let’s just say that I’m not so interested in finding the money anymore as getting the truth out of Gabby.”

“Good luck, seems like she’s been keeping secrets from everyone for years. The truth might be worse than the theft.”

“It’s a chance I’ve got to take. I can’t think of having the baby without the truth being out.”

“What baby?” Morris asked.

“Gabby’s pregnant, wasn’t planned and it’s still early so we haven’t announced it yet but I can’t begin to think what will happen if we don’t resolve this before the baby is here.”

“I’ll get right on it boss,” Morris said. “Congrats on the baby, and apparently on falling for your wife, can’t say I blame you she is a knockout, especially in that dress.”

“Too much of a knockout…in fact, I think it’s time to take her home and stop the leering.”

“I take it you’re no closer to getting Gabby to…take your ideas into consideration than she was a year ago?”

“Yup, not a single step closer to it than I was,” Wyatt agreed. “Thanks for the heads up and get to work, I’m paying you to find information for me, not to stand around and stare at my wife.”

Wyatt walked back towards the table missing Morris’ final comment, “If you don’t want people to stare, don’t let her out in a damned mini that hugs all the right spots…”

“Everything okay?” Isaac asked at his return.

“Just fine Dad, nothing to worry about,” Wyatt assured him. “Where did Gabby go?” he added when he noticed she was missing.

“To the bathroom big brother, geesh, worry much?” Joan laughed.

“About my beautiful wife? Always,” he replied. “I think I’ll go back and check on her.”

“You’re going to go into the women’s bathroom?” Caroline asked with amusement.
