“Saying goodbye I bet,” Haley said.

“Why do you say that?” Adam asked.

“She wouldn’t leave those kids without saying goodbye,” Haley stated.

“You think she’s leaving or left town?” Morris asked.

“I’ve been in Gabby’s position, sort of,” Haley admitted.

“What do you mean sort of?” Joan inquired as the doorbell rang again.

“Okay,” Nate said walking in, “where the hell is Gabby?”

“That’s what we’re trying to figure out,” Viola stated.

“She won’t answer her phone,” Sam said coming in behind Nate.

“It’s off,” Morris told them.

“I want to know what Haley meant by you’ve sort of been in her position,” Joan repeated.

“I was alone and pregnant,” she explained. “I ran straight to Gabby but I wasn’t in love with the father of my baby.”

“And Gabby is?” Sam asked.

“I should have come sooner but Jess had a slight setback…” Haley sighed.

“You’re telling us that Gabby admitted to being in love with Wyatt?” Viola questioned.

“Yeah, a few months ago, it was right after she found out about the baby, the weekend your Dad had a heart attack, it was also the same weekend that Donald came out and publicly threatened her. Look, I’ve heard her falling into a hole for a bit now, and I knew I couldn’t let it go on. The day before the party I heard something in her voice that scared me, more than any threat from Donald ever had. She wasn’t my Gabby anymore and I’d done that to her.”

“Do you know where she’d go?” Joan asked.

“No and I don’t think we’ll be able to find her if she ran,” Haley admitted.

“She’d have to have money,” Morris said. “There was a savings account that had about fifteen thousand in it; it could have been enough to get somewhere.”

“No,” Haley said shaking her head in denial. “That account is for Jess. Gabby started it when she was six weeks old.”

“She might have felt desperate enough to use it to get away from my brother,” Joan suggested.

“No, there’s one thing you should know about Gabs, she’d never take money from her family, not even if it was standing between her and freedom,” Sam said.

“If her phone’s off, we have no idea where she’d get money from, how do we find her?” Adam inquired.

“Money…Haley, you know where the money is, right?” Morris said.

“Yeah, why?”

“You’re thinking she used part of it to fund her new life?” Viola guessed with a glance at Morris who nodded before looking to Haley. “You said there almost a million left, right?”

“I doubt if she’d touch it but it’s a possibility,” Haley agreed pulling up the banking information. She shook her head frowning. “It’s all there still.”

“How did you and Gabby communicate?” Adam asked his sister.

“Phone primarily.”

“Not her regular cell. We bugged it initially,” Morris explained.
