“Because I don’t feel like talking to a whiskey bottle and the stench of that stuff is making me nauseous,” she said as he wiped his face with a towel.

“So you dump a bottle of water over my head?”

“It was that or smacking you, at least the water covered the smell. Now if you’re through with putting words in my mouthyet againthere’s something I need to tell you before I go.”

“You’re leaving again?” Haley asked stepping beside her.

“Just the party, I’m tired of not being with you all,” she assured her. “I peeked in on Jess and she’s fine.”

“How did you know where we were?” Viola asked.

“Really you’re going to ask me that?” Gabby laughed. “Who’s the computer genius around here?”

“Blah, blah, blah,” Wyatt said. “What could you possibly have to say to me that you haven’t already?”

“You want me to do it here?” she inquired.

“Why not? The rest of our laundry’s been aired out here so why not this?”

“Okay,” she sighed. “I came here to tell you two things. One, I’m having a boy. Two…I love you.”

“What?” Wyatt gaped.

“You wanted to know, so now you know,” Gabby told him then turned.

“Oh no you don’t,” he said grabbing her arm and swinging her back around into his arms. “You’re not running away after that.”

“Why? What could you possibly say to me after that?” she asked quietly.

“Four words Gabby…I love you too,” he whispered lowering his forehead against hers then covered her mouth with his.

“Told you, you’d be surprised what an admission of love would accomplish,” Haley said turning to Melanie.

“I see…I don’t understand but I certainly see,” she replied with a smile.

“Gabby,” Wyatt whispered pulling her against him as he broke the kiss, “why?”

“I have no idea, but then again you don’t choose who you fall in love with do you?” she asked trying to keep the tears at bay.

“No you don’t, but how can you forgive me?” he asked in amazement.

“How can I not?” she countered. “Neither of us were exactly at our bests, especially at the start, but somewhere along the way…it changed.”

“You really love me?”

“I really love you, Wyatt. Why do you think I was so distant? Loving you and being afraid for Hales was tearing me in two…I knew the only thing to do would be to tell you the truth but I knew I’d lose you,” she said as he led her away from the crowd.

“If you would have told me the day I confronted you do you know what I would have done?” he asked cupping her face as he stared down into her eyes.

“Called the police?” she guessed, her heart stuttering a bit at the panic that still caused, the thought of Jess not getting the surgery she needed, to make her better, give her a normal life, rather than the hell she’d been living through.

“No, I would have blackmailed you into marrying me,” he laughed. “I would have done whatever it took to get you into my arms, my bed…my heart and I wouldn’t have stopped until I was firmly in yours.”

“There’s no need to worry about that Wyatt, you’ve had my heart for the longest time.”

“Why now?” he asked her sometime later after their mouths parted.

“I got a long list of emails, a dialogue between you and Paul regarding our divorce,” she told him with a grin. “Saying you’d burnt the prenup and wanted me to have everything. I couldn’t believe it when I read them the first time but then I knew I might as well take a chance. I couldn’t possibly get more depressed and heartbroken than I already was, so I came back, and heard Joan yelling at you, and decided to see what would happen.”
