While there was nothing more enjoyable than making love to her two men, she needed to rest. These next few days were going to be intense. The fact another woman was coming to help pleased Cassidy to no end, especially since she’d never used anything other than an ordinary bow and arrow. While her dad had given her some tips on how to shoot, Cassidy had mostly taught herself. If what the men had planned was to work, she needed her arrows to have pinpoint accuracy. Considering the target would be moving and fighting with a Granger or a friend of a Granger, she was understandably nervous.
Cassidy undressed and placed her dirty clothes in the hamper. She quickly stepped into the shower and turned on the water. Even though she told Mike that she needed a break from the sex, she didn’t think he’d honor her request. Was she hoping he'd come in and make love with her? Part of her wanted that, but being distracted all the time wouldn’t help her cause.
When the water warmed, she stepped under the flow and sighed. There was nothing better than hot water to soothe her muscles. Not wanting to keep the men waiting, she washed her hair and then her body. Once clean, she shut off the water and stepped onto the bath mat.
The bathroom door started to open. Cassidy huffed out a laugh. She knew Mike couldn’t stay away. When he stepped in, it wasn’t Mike.
“Zach?”
“I’m only here to see if you need help.”
Seriously? Mike had already checked. “I think I can handle drying myself.”
He hopped onto the counter. “Okay. Mind if I watch then?”
“No.” She thought it strange that he wouldn’t try to kiss her at least.
“I wanted to be alone with you, because I have to tell you something.”
That caught her interest. With what they’d been through, he shouldn’t be shy about anything. “Okay.”
“I know what they say about mates—that there is an instant draw between them.”
“I believe that's true. As soon as I saw you dying on the ground, something inside pulled me to you.”
“I think it was that connection that made me want to live. I didn’t remember much, but I had to get well so I could find you.”
She smiled. “I can’t tell you how thankful I am that you did. Along with Mike, of course.”
“That was a bonus. Mike and I have been best friends for a long time. He and I are quite different, but we share our love of the outdoors. Now we share our love for you.”
Her heart nearly stopped. “Your love?”
Zach slid off the counter and stepped toward her. “I’ve never told a woman that I loved her, because I’ve never felt the way I do toward you.”
His romantic sentiment made her pussy coil with desire. “I love you, too, Zach Granger. And it’s not just because we are mates. You are kind, considerate, and capable of doing anything you set your mind to.”
If his facial hair hadn’t thickened so much, she bet his cheeks would be flushed. When she reached out to touch him, he wrapped his arms around her and kissed her. He was a bit tentative—probably because Mike had told him she needed a break. But she’d never wanted to make love with him as much as she did at that moment.
Wanting to show him what he meant to her, Cassidy grabbed his ass with both hands and drew him even closer. That must have been the invitation he was waiting for, because he delved into her mouth, and their tongues dueled for position.
He spun her around and then kicked the bathroom door closed. Zach backed her up until she was pressed against the slatted wood. Their breaths increased as they tasted and explored each other. Maybe it had been the expression of their love that had somehow changed things between them.
When Zach slid his hands to cup her breasts, her whole being was filled with wanting. Cassidy reached between them and undid the button on his jeans.
Zach broke the kiss. “Are you sure? I don’t want to make you too sore.”
“I’ll worry about that later.” She stilled. "You don't think Mike will get mad that I'm with you after I turned him down."
Zach smiled. "He was the one who urged me to come in here."
She wasn't sure why he would, but she was glad he did.
One second Zach was fully dressed, and the next he was gloriously naked. She sucked in a breath at his beauty. “I need to touch every inch of your body. You are so hot,” she said.
“Thirty seconds, then it’s my turn.”
“Are you going to turn on your watch’s timer?”
