Not wanting to keep everyone waiting, she returned to the main room. "It's all set."

Ian grinned. “I sure do love a good fight.”

CHAPTERTWENTY-SIX

“Is this really going to work?” Cassidy asked as they entered Zach’s place.

“You know Doug. You said his ego won’t let him stay away,” Zach answered.

She turned to face both of them. “What if something happens to one of you? I couldn’t live with myself.”

Zach gathered her in his arms, and Mike stepped behind her and clasped her waist. “We have you and Charley to put the finishing touches on the Kitchener Clan.” Zach kissed her forehead. “Don’t worry, we have more to fight for than any of those men do.”

“I suppose.”

Mike turned her around to face him. “I have an idea but feel free to say no.”

“What is it?” she asked.

“I’m sure you realize by now that Zach and I love you.”

“I...ah…hoped it was true.”

His friend grinned. “Does that mean you feel the same way?”

He and Mike had talked about taking the final step with Cassidy many times—and then she ran away. But their mate was back, and there was nothing they wouldn’t do for her.

“Yes. Of course, I love both of you. It’s why I left. The thought of that jackass injuring either of you nearly destroyed me.”

Mike took her hand and led her over to the sofa. Zach and Mike sat across from her.“Are you going to ask her?”Zach telepathed.

“Yes, I don’t want you messing it up. Only kidding. Wish me luck.”

Zach was glad to let his friend have this task.

“Zach and I want to make our relationship permanent.”

“Permanent as in biting me to make us fully mated?”

He didn’t blame her for wanting clarity. “Yes,” Zach interjected.

She grinned. “I would love nothing more. The icing on the cake would be if I could tell Doug after everyone kicks his ass that it was all for nothing. A woman can only mate once, right?”

Zach let out a long held breath. “I believe that’s true.”

She held up a hand. "Just to be clear, that's not why I want to mate with you. I love you both very much."

Zach grinned. "We figured."

“If I'm going to take you up on your offer, how about you let me shower first? After a full day of hiking and learning how to use a crossbow, I need to clean up.”

“Sure. We’ll do the same,” Mike said.

With a lot of energy in her step, Cassidy headed to the bedroom. As soon she closed the bathroom door, Zach stood. “You heard her. We need to clean up too.”

“You go first.”

Zach dipped his head. “That is a no. Give the poor girl some time to herself. She might need a moment to think this through. This is a big step.”
