“I’m really not sure how to describe it,” she starts, those rainforest eyes locking with mine, warming me from the inside. “But I wanted to have faith in you, and I’m glad I did.” She beams and that smile lights her eyes. “Now, come back to bed. I need to sleep for the next few hours.”

My phone starts ringing, but I ignore it. It keeps on ringing as I climb in next to her.

“Answer it. I’m not going anywhere.”

“Move in with me?” I ask.

“One day, maybe.” She winks, then lays her head on my chest. “Let’s wait until we hit the six-month mark at least, then ask me again.”

“That’s unfair. I wanted you from the minute I saw you,” I argue. “And I have a feeling I’ve loved you from the minute I saw you as well.”

Her eyes find mine from my chest, and her hand touches my heart as she looks up at me. “You love me?” she asks, her voice low, unsure.

“Fucking oath I do. But that one moment in time where I hurt you, with my very own hands, I knew then that I could not live without you. I knew I had to fight myself to believe it, and now you,” I say, reaching for my phone as it rings again.

This time I answer, and my brother’s voice comes through, not giving her a chance to respond.

“I love you too,” Oriana whispers before she kisses my chest and lays back down on it.

“Sooo…” he draws out the word before continuing, “I may have killed Avani.”

“What?” I bark, confused.

“Or I’m going to kill him,” Avani screams in the background. “He’s trying to fuck my roommate,” she says loudly. “My roommate, Jake. Tell your brother to knock it off, or I’ll end him.”

“Is this a joke? Fuck off,” I growl angrily, and then hang up.

Oriana giggles next to me.

One Month Later…

“You shouldn’t buy it,” I tell Oriana as we pull up to an apartment she has been looking at. Keir and Sailor bought her property in the Hamptons, and she is planning to buy her own place.

“Why?”

“Because you already live with me,” I remind her.

She chuckles as she gets out of the car. “That’s only half true. You just never let me go home,” she whines.

Ever since that first night she stayed over, I haven’t been able to sleep without her.

Maybe that’s not healthy.

But I couldn’t care less.

She is now my safe haven.

And for someone who has never had that in their life, it’s truly something incredibly special, and you never want to lose it once you have it firmly in your grasp.

“My home is your home,” I tell her.

“No, this could be my home.” She waves her hand to the open house. “I’m buying it, Jake, but…” she pauses and looks back to me, “I do want to live with you. I’m in a good place now. Everything feels great. I like my job, and I love you.” She nudges me with her shoulder.

“And the sex is great,” I remind her, and she chuckles.

“Yes. Yes, it is,” she agrees.

Six months later
