"Yes, so as a training mission for me, I will be inside the van."

Saff nodded. "Damn straight you will be. I will not have your husband threatening me with certain death because you left the van."

She grinned. "He is a right pain in the arse."

I laughed. "Aren't all men?"

"Yes, actually, I’ve found that to be true."

I looked at Saff. "How long have you been in Rogues?"

"Literally all my life. My grandfather founded the Rogues."

I lifted my brows. "Oh, damn."

She shrugged. "It's kind of in the blood. But it's not all fun and games."

"I don't imagine it would be."

"No. Antonio Igno, he's been enemy number one for a long time."

I frowned as she glanced outside.

"When this is all over,” Saff said, “you're going to tell us all about you and Rook over a drink."

I had to laugh at that. "It's a story that's been written for years."

"Aren't all the best stories like that?"

"Actually, yes. Okay, I'm ready."

When we were all geared up in black head to toe, Saff handed out masks, and then Gabe stepped out of the van. His gaze met mine. "I'm only allowing you to do this because Rook owes you something. Otherwise, you wouldn't be here. Do you understand me?"

I nodded. "Yeah, I get you."

"Make sure you understand. You are here by invitation, so stay focused and don't get dead. I can't have Rook in my face if something happens to you."

I nodded. "Who gets in your face if something happens to him?"

He sighed. "By the looks of it, you."

I shrugged. "Accurate."

We all had our positions. I went with Saint and Saffron as Lachlan and Gabe headed to the north side.

Saint was behind me, and Saff was in front of me. And when we pushed to the house, Saff waited as we listened in on Westin's conversation. We heard a man’s voice say, "I don't think you understand, you were meant to bring her with you."

"There has been a complication,” my father said. “Nissa and Westin had a slight misunderstanding."

There was silence for a moment, and then Igno's voice was low and icy. "You killed her?"

"Yes, it was expeditious. She was holding on to the ledger. And I know Montgomery well. There was no way he planned on me living. Lo and behold, I was right."

Saff gave me the hold command and I tried to be still.

Igno's voice was terse. "That was the deal. No girl, no deal. What's to keep me from killing you, St. James?"

Westin's voice was clear. "Oh, nothing. Except I didn't bring it with me. I know better. This is a live feed of exactly where it is. As you can see on my phone screen, right there is the ledger, and there's a time stamp."
