"That's one way of looking at it." I raised my mug in salute and took a sip. It was just how I liked it.

She shrugged and handed me the small bag of marshmallows. “You can have a few more.”

I grinned at her. "Ah, you're warming to me."

"Don't hold your breath. Good night, Westin. I still don't like you."

I grinned after her. "That's what they all say. And they all come around eventually."

She flipped me off as she walked into her room, and I had to grin. She might not have exactly been thrilled, but like Gabe said, my mission depended on her. It would make things a lot easier if we were working together. Or at least, not at each other's throats.

I’d woken up early again ready to do some more work. I had several interview requests, and I made a note to deal with them after my statistics class. I also had a response from a Finn Wesley on Instagram. As it turned out, he was not the Finn I was looking for. But he did want me to send nudes.

Ew.

Despite this, nothing was going to put a damper on my mood. I had a lead. For the first time in ages, I had something concrete I could hold onto when it came to my sister.

Hell, I was so preoccupied that Westin's workout activities didn't even bother me. I'd woken up hunting for images of Finn on Instagram. I found a few. Several actually, but nothing that told me where he was, or what he was up to. I was definitely going to need some help.

I was still so preoccupied, I didn't even hear the soft knock on my door until the door opened and Jamila stuck her head inside. "Hey, beautiful girl, I'm heading out in a minute."

And just like that, my world crashed down. I'd completely forgotten that today was the day Jamila was leaving for good.

Because of your father.

I forced myself to grin at her. "No. No, no."

She stepped into my room and climbed on the bed with me, wrapping me in a tight hug as she smothered me. "Oh, come on, love, Adam's here. He's already loading my boxes into a lorry downstairs. I'm just a few blocks away. Just the other side of campus, honestly. We'll still see each other every day."

"Yeah, but we won't walk to class together anymore, and who's going to bring me coffee when I forget?"

"You forget, I cross paths with you on the way to my Astronomy class. I’ll still bring you coffee. All you have to do is text me."

"But it's a whole other setup," I winged.

“You’re going to be okay, love."

I stopped teasing her. "Yes, Jamila, I will be fine. I'm just giving you shit. And I'll miss you. We've been flat mates since freshers."

"Yes, I walked in on you trying to braid the back of your hair because you refused to pay the braid shop prices."

"Do you know how expensive they are?"

"Yes, I do. And I will tell you what I told you then. Make your father pay for it."

"Well, I'm still on the I don't want anything from him vibe, so there's that."

She rolled her eyes. "I get it. I do. But if he's going to meddle anyway…" She hitched her thumb toward the door and presumably toward Westin. "You might as well enjoy it."

I groaned. "Please don't leave me."

"I'm not leaving you. At least not very far."

She clamored out of the bed and helped me up. I grabbed my robe and tugged off my satin cap before following her out into the main living area.
