“Hey…” Kai’s tone is so soft as his hand gently cups my chin and lifts my face towards him. “Where did you go?”

“Nowhere.” I try to keep my voice light, breezy, or uncaring. But if I can hear the pain in it, I know he can too.

“Wicked…”

“Kai…” My chin trembles under his touch as a heavy weight settles over me, my emotions finally stirring like a caged beast in my chest. I’m no longer able to hold them back, to keep them leashed. The tears begin to fall, each salty drop containing the anguish and frustration that continues to run rampant in my heart.

“Shh…Izabella, it’s okay. I’ve got you. I’m here.” I don’t even flinch at the use of my name as he pulls me from my seat and into his arms, wrapping the blanket around us both, cocooning us in safety and warmth. I succumb to his comfort, letting him soothe me through the pain. Letting him help me.

Even if I know I’ll regret it.

I fist his shirt in my hands and press my face to his chest as he holds me while the dam inside me finally breaks. Each moment of fear and trauma, the memories of how close it came, the pain of what the guy did, they all come flooding out in sobs and whimpers.

A person can only be so strong.

Right?

Aches and pains consume me as my body trembles through the wreckage and devastation that I’ve become. From the agony at the back of my head, to the burning of my busted face, all the way down to the scrapes and bruises covering my thighs. Each part of me seems to scream and grieve.

Yet, Kai soothes each and every one.

He holds me through the breakdown, his hands tracing over my skin under the blanket as he peppers kisses to my hair. His touch almost seems to ease my torment with every second that passes. He skims each injury, lingering on the edges as if to pay homage to my suffering, while he whispers sweet nothings and reassurances in my ear.

Even if it kills me tomorrow, even if regret is a shadow on the edges of my thoughts, for now…I’ll let him help me heal. Because I don’t know if I can do it alone.

And that’s the scariest part of it all.

I’m in the park with all three of the guys. A white sundress fluttering over my small frame as the breeze swirls around us. We’re all laughing at something Kai said as Ezra dips a strawberry into a bowl of whipped cream and presses it to my lips. I suck at the sweetness before biting in, juices trickling down my jaw and neck before sliding between my cleavage. Ezra follows the path, his sterling gray eyes flashing like lightning as he leans forward and trails it with his tongue.

My head lolls to the right, seeing Nic’s almost black gaze watching the movement, a primal hunger radiating from him as his sharp jaw clenches shut. He leans forward, his hand coming up to shift the front of my dress aside. His full lips capture mine as Ezra’s tongue finds my now exposed nipple, a bite following the warmth of his mouth.

I moan into Nic’s kiss as a strong grip finds my legs and pulls them apart before trailing up between my thighs. I glance down for a moment to see Kai on his knees before me, his chocolate gaze flashing with mischief as a wicked grin takes over his features. I open my legs wider for him, falling to my back on the blanket as Ezra and Nic each palm my thighs and help expose me to Kai.

Nic finds my mouth again, his tongue dancing with mine as he trails his hand up and grips my hip. Ezra continues his ministrations against my chest as Kai finally flicks his tongue out against my clit. I buck my hips as lightning strikes through me at the contact, but the guys hold me down.

Panting and moaning into Nic’s mouth, I grow closer and closer to the edge of oblivion, chasing it like I’ve never chased anything before.

It’s so close I can taste it.

Nic breaks our kiss and stares into my eyes, love and devotion pouring through his gaze. His mouth opens and he says something, but a boom of thunder crashes and smothers his voice.

“What?”

The sky above us, once bright and shining without a cloud in its mass, turns dark and menacing. Suddenly, it opens its maw and droplets pour down on us, but when I glance down, it isn’t water raining from the sky…it’s blood.

So much blood it coats my entire skin, my white dress turning crimson as it soaks through it. The guys are coated in it, thick waves pouring over their stricken features. Nic opens his mouth again, but a bright light flashes across my vision, blinding me.

It doesn’t abate.

The white turns to black, smothering me, holding me in its grasp.

I scream as the thunder booms around me.

Boom.

Boom.

Boom.
