“And does this offer extend to my three companions here? We are a package deal, you know.” He shuffles slightly before looking at the second guy, who simply nods in affirmation.

“Yes. It does.”

Well that’s good to know. It’s too bad for them; I choose option C.

“Sorry, boys. I’m going to have to pass.” I start to walk forward and they step out of the way to let us through.

“Wait, what?” He sounds so confused, it’s almost comical.

“Yeah, sorry. I just don’t play well within the confines of all your red tape. But I’ll tell you what,” I turn in place and start walking backwards, probably making it much harder for Ezra to stay by my side, holding my hand. “You’re totally welcome to hire us if you need the help, but you’ll have to go through official channels.”

“Official channels?”

“Yeah. And then we’ll decide whether your case is worth our time or not.” I shrug, turning back to the car.

“Wait! Miss. Wicked! What official channels do we have to go through?”

“Well, Mr. Cortez, you’ll just have to wait until it’s open first!” I grin as he sputters again. My lack of answers surely pissing him off.

“Untilwhatis open?”

“My business, of course!”

“Wick-what?!”

“Our private detective firm, duh! Keep up, Mr. Cortez! I thought the FBI was supposed to be good at this sort of thing!”

I giggle as we reach the truck, Ezra helping me in as Gizmo and Snitch hop onto my lap. When all three guys make it inside they all burst out laughing.

“So a private eye, huh?” Nic finally questions.

“It just came to me. And it feels right.” I shrug my shoulders. “What better way to do what we love without the constraints we’re usually tied with? Plus, we’ll be able to help people that maybe official quarters don’t take seriously. Is that okay?”

“I think that’s the best fucking idea ever!” Kai voices joyfully from the back seat.

“Me too,” Ezra, my unyielding wall of support adds.

“Why do I feel like this is going to be a lot more work for me than it is for you three?” Nic groans and I grin.

“Good luck keeping us in line, daddy!” I shoot him a kiss as Kai cackles behind me. “Now, let's go meet Alan for lunch. I’m famished!”

It’s been a hell of a ride, but it’s only just starting.

That’s right, bitches.

You haven’t seen the last of Wicked yet.

THE END
