“Good.” Atlas smiles. “Your boss sounds like a great man.”

“He is.”

“And this pasta is the best I’ve ever tasted,” he adds. “Thank you for cooking for me.”

“You’re welcome.”

We finish eating, and then he does our dishes and cleans up, and then we have a shower together and go to bed.

Like a normal couple.

If only we were one.

The next morning we grab some breakfast and head to the Knights clubhouse.

We both pull our helmets off, and he looks at me like he wants to kiss me, but he doesn’t.

“Did you have fun?” he asks.

I nod, brushing my hair out of my face. “I did. It’s not so bad being on the back.”

“Good,” he says, cupping my face. “You ready to step into my world?”

“I was born ready.” I grin.

And I was.

I was born into this world long before even he was a part of it.

We step into the clubhouse. Not as fancy or flash as the Wind Dragons, but their space is still awesome.

We find Aries and Diesel sitting on the couch, and Atlas introduces me to Diesel. Aries says hello, and then I’m shown their big bachelor pad. It has plenty of space, rooms and even a gym. They have everything one could need.

Atlas saves his room for last, opening the door and letting me step in. I eye his big leather bed first and the TV that covers half the wall, and turn to him. “It’s very clean.”

“Are you impressed?” he asks, amused. “I know how clean your apartment is, so I thought you’d appreciate it.”

“I am,” I reply, sitting down on his bed and glancing up at him. His blue eyes scan me against his black sheets, and I can tell that he likes what he sees.

“Atlas?” Crow calls, sticking his head into the room. “Oh, shit, sorry, didn’t mean to interrupt anything.”

“Natalie, this is Crow. Crow, Natalie.”

“Nice to meet you,” he says, bracing himself against the doorframe with a grin. “You’re Rake’s daughter?”

I nod. “That would be me.”

He turns back to Atlas. “You have a set of balls on you.”

I can’t control my laughter. “What do you need?” Atlas asks him.

“Wanted to see if you wanted to spar, but I see you’re busy.”

“Rain check.”

“Deal,” he says, waving at me and disappearing.

Atlas closes the door and sits down next to me on the bed. “Now you know where I’m lying when I’m texting you at night.”
