She heaves a sigh. “And he’s charming too.”

“Do you want me to help you into the shower?” I arch a brow. “My ma raised a gentleman. I won’t look.”Unless asked.

Biting her lip, she peeks at me then at the bathroom door. “Would you mind?”

“Wouldn’t have asked if I did.” I don’t know what makes me do it, the gesture is fucking insane to me, but I press a kiss to her forehead. “Let’s get you cleaned up, hmm?”

Another sigh spills from those pouty lips, then she surprises me by tapping me on the nose and declaring, “One day, I’ll be more than happy to have you watch me when I shower.”

Shuffling her into the bathroom, I snort. “Good to know, princess. Good to know.”

CINDY/BELLE

What is that noise?

I roll over and blink my eyes open. The morning sun spills in, casting a slight glare off my balcony doors that’s hell on my headache.

When I realize I’m alone, I sit up and instantly look for him.

“Cade?” Is that my voice? Ugh.

I reach over to the spot next to me on the bed—it’s cold.

My phone vibrates on the nightstand, not only an annoying reminder that I will eventually have to deal with all my crap but the reason behind my waking up earlier than I’d have preferred.

Glaring at it, I toss the covers off and marvel at what a good night’s sleep can accomplish. I still feel the aftereffects of yesterday, but at least I feel like a real person again.

I stand and stretch then grimace when my phone stops and starts up on a loop.

With a sigh, I grab it, unable to keep from smiling because as fucked up as yesterday was, Cade’s defense of me was amazing, and it gave me the guts to stick it to David.

How Cade appeared out of nowhere like my knight in shining armor, standing up for me… so fucking hot. And that look on David’s face,ha.

My phone vibrates in my hand—Charlie.

Okay, I need to do some damage control this morning. Not that I want to get ahead of myself, but if this feeling that I’m having for Cade is real, I don’t want David alienating the club against him.

“Cade?” I call out again.

He wouldn’t have left, right?

I mean, I know I passed out after I took a shower. My stomach flutters at how protective, almost loving he was when he brought me home. He didn’t let me do a thing, even started the shower for me then wrapped me in my towel and tucked me into bed.

I kinda hoped he’d sleep beside me, but apparently he’s more of a gentleman than I am a lady.

Prince fucking Charming.

“Stop it. You barely know him, and nobody can be that perfect.” Trying to stop this excitement I’m having just thinking about him is impossible. Until my stupid phone sours my mood.

“Hey.”

“I swear to God, Cindy, I’ve been calling and texting for an hour,” Charlie hisses into the phone, which means she’s trying to control her volume because of baby Madison.

“Sorry, I just woke up,” I say, forcing myself to sound cheerful.

“It’s fucking noon,” she snaps then lowers her voice.
