"I need both food and pleasure," I replied as I picked up an enormous glazed cinnamon roll. Devouring the sugary sweet treat, I licked my fingers and grabbed another pastry from the tray. Alastor had ordered his breakfast of fruit, eggs, and meat. Boring just like him.

"You'll have to find the second while I'm not around. I don't want to watch you have sex."

"You might enjoy it," I replied.

"Doubtful," he said as he rolled his eyes.

"What if it was the demon hunter? Would you want to watch me give her pleasure? Maybe join us?"

He shifted on the couch, and it told me everything I needed to know, he would like all of that. Of course, the bastard would want that to happen.

"I'm meeting her tonight, and we are going to the horde's camp near the portal."

"Why would you take ademon hunteraround my horde?"

"You don't fear for her? Only the demons?"

"I've watched her kill them. She can defend herself, but she will not hesitate to kill them all."

"Is that concern for your horde I hear? I thought you didn't want to rule," he said.

"That doesn't mean I want them all dead," I said. The pastry lost its flavor, and I tossed it back to the tray, my appetite gone. I had to get to them and tell them to go home. Standing, I brushed the crumbs from my fingers and headed toward the elevator.

"Where are you going?"

"To send them back home," I growled over my shoulder.

His deep chuckle followed me and echoed in my ears as I made my way to the portal and their encampment I had found last night. When I stepped into the clearing around the portal, all eyes snapped to me. The same fear I had always seen was shining from their eyes.

"All of you need to return home," I said.

"We aren't going anywhere," one of the braver demons replied.

Another one said, "This is our home now."

While another murmured, "You're here."

"Alastor is bringing the hunter to you tonight," I said, thinking that would make at least some of them come to their senses. Instead, a cheer went up around the camp. It excited them for her to come. "She will kill you all."

A black mage stepped forward. He was in his old human form, but I had witnessed what they looked like at night, and it made even me shiver. "You have no faith in your horde. You're a coward. That is why you ran from your responsibilities. You don't deserve the crown."

"I am ordering you as your prince to return to Tartus," I said. A few of the lesser demons shifted nervously, but the majority looked to the mage like he was their leader now. Well, he was going to get them all killed. Even knowing that she was coming, they wouldn't be prepared for the destruction she would bring with her. "Fine, you all can die then. But this portal is closing today."

"Is that so, Prince?" the mage sneered. "And how do you plan to do that? Only royal blood can close it, the spilling of royal blood, really."

CHAPTER 16

Samantha

"Sammy, wait,"Raiden called to me as I headed toward the club to meet Alastor, he must have used ‘find my friend’. He would not like the plan of delivering me to the demons.

"Oh, hey, Rai," I said, trying to act natural.

"You ignored my texts. I thought something had happened to you."

He was right. I was avoiding him. "Sorry, I was busy with class. I'm falling behind with all the hunting."

"You ace all of your classes. You just told me last week that you were sailing through them." He caught up and glanced down at me.
