Releasing my hand, Bishop stalks over to the door to the den. Shoving it open, he sticks his head out of it.

“Bring me Weston,” he bellows.

Oh, boy.Weston.Bishop’s using West’s full name. Considering my brother is the one who started calling a twelve-year-old Weston by the shortened version of his name in the first place, I’m not sure that’s such a good sign.

He said he wanted to congratulate him, though. Then again, he put him in silver chains. That’s almost as bad as West dosing me with quicksilver.

Hmm… come to think of it, maybe it’ll do West some good to find out what it’s like to be caught off from his wolf. Not for long, of course, but maybe just a tiny taste.

Less than five minutes later, I sense him again. Our bond springs back to life, so strong and powerful, it shadows the faint echo of the one I have with Rafael. As though he was worried for me whilehewas in chains, he sends a reassuring pulse down our tie, followed by one of pure love.

I return it, then sit down again, waiting for his arrival.

It’s only a few more before the door swings in again.

Sofia enters first, smiling at me before—like two magnets being pulled together—she drifts right into Bishop’s embrace. She kisses the underside of his bearded jaw, laying her hand possessively on his chest. Both of them stay standing.

West enters the den next, rubbing the raw patch on his right wrist. I wince. The silver must have bit right through his skin.

I didn’t feel the pain through our bond before because the silver would’ve tamped it down. Not only does the mineral cut off from our wolves, but it also keeps us distanced from our mates.

“Oh, West…”

He spares me a grin before he turns to Bishop. Any humor slides off of his face, suddenly serious as he addresses the Alpha.

“It was worth it. If only to know Helene was mine for a single night, it was worth it.”

Bishop raises his eyebrows. “You fixin’ to find a way to break the bond with my sister, Weston?”

“What? No. That’s not what I—”

“After all the trouble I went to to give this mating my blessing, you want to back out now.”

West jaw goes tight. “Never,” he bites out a split second before understanding slams into him. “Blessing?”

Bishop grunts. “That’s right.”

We didn’t need his blessing, but Luna… does it feel good to have it. From the pleasure reaching me from my mate, he agrees.

“Welcome to the family,” Sofia says warmly.

Bishop lays his palm over the curve of her ass. “Ah, cher. He was always family.”

Once Bishop—atSofia’s urging—dismisses us from his presence, I grab West’s hand and lead him outside. It’s already healed from the silver, though I can sense how much he needs to remind himself that we’re truly mates. Being cut off from me so soon after our Luna Ceremony has left him rattled.

We need privacy.

Turning to glance up at my mate, I ask, “Should we go to your cabin or—”

“Yours.”

Whoa. Okay. That was quick. “My place it is, then.”

West has a cabin of his own. It was a gift from his father when he became Beta. Up until then, he still lived at home with his parents. A lot of unmated delta shifters do, so it made sense that he didn’t move out until he had a much higher rank in the pack.

While we spent a lot of time together in mine, when we wanted privacy, we went to his since it was further from the heart of pack land.
