Sky didn’t care. Without even trying, she found a vein and then…oh thank the Goddess—her mouth was filled with a life-giving flow that nourished her body and fed her soul at the same time.

The thick, rich, delicious liquid gushing into her mouth was nothing like the thin, oily blood of the Serpentine males she’d always drunk from. It didn’t taste bitter at all—it was salty-sweet and amazing—exactly what she needed and the most wonderful thing she’d ever tasted.

She became aware that someone was stroking her back and cupping the back of her head, urging to her to drink, to take more of the amazing stuff. That deep, familiar voice was telling her to take as much as she needed—as much as she wanted. And for the first time in her life, Sky wanted more than just a few swallows.

Every bit of her body seemed to open up, like a desert during a rainstorm—sucking in moisture it desperately needed. Sky drank thirstily—almost desperately—taking mouthful after mouthful of the delicious, life-giving stuff as her body healed itself rapidly with the flow. She could feel the aching in her ribs and the burning in her thigh diminishing until they were barely more than a memory.

“That’s right, Darlin’,” she heard the familiar voice saying. “Take what you need. Gods, feels so damn good!”

Feels good for me, too, Sky wanted to tell him. Tastes incredible—never had anything like this. So sweet and salty and warm and fresh and…

And she suddenly realized what was happening. She was sitting in Torin’s lap, being cradled against his broad chest, and she was drinking from him. From the male she’d sworn never to be intimate with again—and this certainly was an intimate act. She could feel her nipples getting tight and she was wet and hot between her thighs—her pussy swollen and aching with desire.

But she wasn’t the only one that was aroused—under her ass, she could feel an enormous hard ridge. Was this turning Torin on too? Did he like it that much knowing he was nourishing her? Giving her what she needed—healing her?

And why was he doing it? Sky had always had the impression that others of her kind would shun her for her fangs and her need for blood. She’d never dreamed that a Kindred male would willingly let her bite him as Torin was doing. Why was he doing this and what did he expect in return?

Though she still hadn’t had nearly enough, Sky withdrew her fangs and sat up abruptly—a move which made her dizzy.

“What in the Underworld is going on?” she demanded, staring at the big Kindred. “Where are we and why am I drinking from you? And why does your blood taste so good?”

He frowned.

“One question at a time. We’re in one of the buildings—I think with Mistress Mirabella, though I didn’t get her name yet. She helped heal the wound those bastards out in the alley gave you. That fucking Trollox…”

“Shazzer,” Sky whispered and a shiver went through her entire body at the memory of being held in his monstrous grip. “My blaster didn’t have any effect on him.”

“My hand-cannon did—it fires disruptor rounds,” Torin said shortly. “He’s dead now but by the time I got to you, you were passed out and you’d lost a lot of blood. You had a gash in your thigh,” he added, pointing.

Sky looked down.

“Well, that would explain the huge rip in my uniform. And the squishing in my boot,” she added, distastefully.

“Yeah—hadn’t gotten around to dealing with your clothes yet,” Torin said. “I was trying to make sure you didn’t die first. You lost a hell of a lot of blood, Darlin’.” He looked at her seriously and motioned to his neck. “Sure you don’t want some more?”

Sky was tempted but then she remembered the rock-hard ridge of his enormous shaft which was still pressing against her ass.

“I’d…better not,” she said. “It tastes good though—too good. I’ve never had blood that tastes like yours before.”

“Because I’m humanoid—not Serpentine,” he pointed out. “Also, I’m Kindred and so are you—stands to reason the blood of your own kind would taste better to you.”

Sky frowned at him.

“That could be it, I guess. But why don’t you mind letting me bite you? My mother moved us to Portex Three because she thought I’d be an outcast and no man would ever let me drink from him. This doesn’t bother you?”

Torin shrugged.

“No. Maybe it’s because I’m used to being an outcast myself, since I’m a Hybrid. But I don’t see your fangs as any kind of—”

“Deformity?” Sky asked, arching an eyebrow at him.

“I was going to say problem,” Torin said mildly. “But no—I don’t think they’re any kind of deformity. They’re part of you—like my skin color and size are part of me.” He shrugged.

“Well…thank you,” Sky said grudgingly. “That’s…not what I would have expected. But I still need to move,” she added. She made a move to get off his lap and nearly fell over as a wave of dizziness hit her.
