There was a pregnant pause, and before he could figure it out, I decided to take matters into my own hands.

I raised my hand and attempted to smile at Clark, but it felt more like a grimace. God, I was the stupid girl who stalked him.

“Heeeey, Clark.” My voice sounded lame even to my own ears.

I was waving like an idiot, and both men just stared at me. The detective was looking at Clark now with a raised brow, and Clark cocked his head while looking at me.

Yep, he didn’t remember me.

I sighed.

Before he could figure it out, the door opened once more. The handsome man who had been with Mayor Skeevy walked inside, and his nose did not look good.

My freaking bad.

Since I wasn’t cuffed, I stood up and turned toward the handsome man who was scowling at me.

“I’m so sorry, it was an accident,” I told him as I saw the red drops of blood on his crispy white shirt.

He glared at me. “You threw a bottle at my nose.”

“I’m sorry! I panicked,” I wailed.

“Who throws a bottle at a man who is trying to help them?”

That caught me off-guard.

“You were trying to help me?” I deadpanned.

He gave me an exasperated look.

“How was I supposed to know that? I thought you were trying to kidnap me!”

“Kidnap you?” he scoffed.

“Yeah, why else would you try to grab a woman at a strip club?”

“Strip club?” Clark No-Longer-Love-of-My-Life questioned.

Broken Nose Man looked like he was going to say more, but his top lip twitched as if he was fighting back a smile. He then looked past me at Detective Dex and Clark while pointing a finger at me.

“I don’t know her, but I don’t think I could handle her and Freya together.”

The detective laughed. That name sounded familiar, but I didn’t know from where.

“Freya’s been good. Now that she handled Bethany, there’s nothing more for her to do,” the detective stated.

Without thinking, I turned back to look at Clark and the detective. “Bethany Vails?”

The detectives went stoic right away, and I didn’t dare look at Clark.

“Why?” Detective Dex's eyes narrowed.

I pointed a finger at myself and sighed. “Oriana Va—”

No sooner had the words left my mouth than I saw it clicking for Clark, just who I was. He looked me over and did a slow blink. It would have been comical under other circumstances.

“Shit. Oreo?” he asked as he took a step closer.
