“Fallon?”

“Yeah.”

“I was wondering when you were going to fess up.”

A sheepish look slid over him. “No hard feelings?”

It was on the tip of my tongue to tell him he was the one who probably needed to feel bad going after my sloppy seconds. But I figured Aurora wouldn’t appreciate that, so I swallowed the words.

“It’s your funeral,” I said. “Those Beta Pi chicks are intense.”

“You’re telling me. She freaked out on me mid-sex because—”

“And that’s my exit cue.” Aurora got up. “I’m going to call it a night.”

“Rory, baby, don’t go. I feel like I’ve barely seen you this week,” Connor pouted. “If I didn’t know better, I’d say you’ve been distracted.” The corner of his mouth tipped with amusement.

Fucker.

He knew.

Connor knew we were… doing whatever this was.

“What can I say, Con? It’s exhausting living with you three. A girl needs her space.”

“Any word from housing?” Austin asked, and Aurora tensed.

“They said it could be a little while longer.”

He gave her a small nod.

I didn’t want to think about her moving out, not being here every day. I liked having her around. So did Connor. But Austin was too damn stubborn to pull his head out of his ass and fix things with her.

“Don’t worry. I won’t overstay my welcome,” she said, barely meeting her brother’s gaze. “If it looks like it won’t be ready anytime soon, I’ll start looking for something else.”

“Rory, baby, you don’t have to do that. The season starts soon, and we’ll hardly be here,” Connor said.

“Con’s right, shortcake. We like having you around.” I glanced at Austin, waiting for him to agree.

But he didn’t.

“It’s not a bad idea,” Austin said like the fucking coward he was. “Rory probably wants her own space now.”

“Yep.” She smiled, but it didn’t reach her eyes. Eyes that glistened with hurt. “Night, guys.”

Aurora hurried from the room, taking the air with her.

Connor blew out a low whistle. “Was that really necessary?” he turned his attention to Austin.

“What?”

“You offered to let her stay here, practically begged us, and now you want her gone?”

“I just think some space will do us good. She’s—”

“You’re an asshole.” I shot up.

“Holden,” Connor warned.
