Ella grimaced. “There may have been an unfortunate incident sophomore year with the hockey team.”

“Not hockey team. Hockey player. And no, I don’t want to talk about it,” Jordan huffed. “I’m still not over the fact you ditched me for Morgan.”

“You love Connor.”

“Who loves Connor?” He appeared out of nowhere.

“Where the hell did you come from?”

“Nice to see you too,” he murmured. “Funny story, I was walking past the bar and saw you all and figured I could stop by and say hey to my girl.”

“Babe”—Ella let out an exasperated sigh—“you know Zest is a Lakers-free zone.”

His smile wavered, guilt flashing in his eyes. “Good thing I didn’t bring the guys then.”

“Oh no, Morgan. What did you—” Jordan’s eyes grew to saucers as she watched Aiden and Noah swagger toward us.

Noah found me immediately, the faintest smile tipping his mouth as he read my sweater, silent laughter dancing in his gaze.

“Guys, you’re supposed to be at The Penalty Box,” Dayna said, letting Aiden manhandle her into his lap.

“We fancied a change of scenery.”

“Hi,” Noah whispered as he sat down beside me.

“Hi. This is… unexpected.”

“Don’t look at me, shortcake. It was all Morgan’s idea.”

Thankfully, Connor and Jordan were still arguing about the three of them encroaching on her Lakers-free zone. But even she couldn’t resist the Connor Morgan charm.

“Fine, you can stay,” she conceded. “On one condition.”

“Name your price.”

“Drinks are on you for the rest of the night.”

“You drive a hard bargain, Hannigan, but consider it done.”

“Having fun?” Noah asked, careful not to get too close. But I was hyper-aware of him. Of his woodsy cologne, how his black t-shirt hugged his broad shoulders and thick biceps. The adorable way his hair fell into his eyes.

Eyes that hadn’t stopped looking at me since he sat down.

“Noah, you’re being too obvious,” I scolded, twisting away from him a little.

A second later, my cell phone vibrated. I dug it out of my bag, hardly surprised to see Noah’s name.

Noah: You look sexy as fuck tonight, shortcake.

Aurora: On a scale of one to ten, how drunk are you?

Noah: Zero. I need to keep my wits about me. I’m trying to impress a girl.

Aurora: Lucky girl.

Noah: Pretty sure I’m the lucky one.

Our gazes collided, and he smirked.
