My heart jackhammered in my chest as she gazed up at me.
Gently, I tugged her wrist away. “You’re wrong, you know, shortcake. Something tells me one night with you will never be enough.”
Alarm flashed in her eyes, quickly giving away to confusion. Even now, even after everything, Aurora still doubted us.

I kissed her. Curving my hand around the back of her neck to allow me to control the moment. But Aurora willingly handed me the reins, melting into me with a breathy whimper.
“Your room or mine, shortcake?”
“Mine.”
“You want a drink? A snack? Any—”
“Noah?” A faint smile traced her lips.
“Yeah?”
“Take me upstairs.”
“Come on.” I took her hand and tugged her toward the stairs, but instead of leading, I pulled her around me and said, “Up you go.”
Her brows crinkled. “Why—”
“I want to watch your ass sway for me, shortcake.”
“Pervert.”
“For you, always.” I grinned, and she gave a little shake of her head as she took off up the stairs.
