Relief washed over him. “Lie down with me?”

“Come on.” I took his hand, leading him into my bedroom.

I kicked off my boots and started pulling off my sweater, but Noah grabbed my wrist. “Let me.”

I gave him a small nod.

Noah took his time undressing me, running his fingers over the dips and curves of my body, swirling the tip in my navel before gliding it up between the valley of my breasts. The intense heat I was used to between us didn’t ignite as he explored my body. Instead, it was a slow burn that simmered, making me shiver and tremble.

“You are so fucking beautiful,” he murmured, curving his hand around the back of my neck and kissing me. A soft, tentative kiss that made the hairs stand on end all over my body.

“Get on the bed, shortcake,” he rasped,

I got under the sheets, watching as he stripped out of his own clothes, right down to his tight black briefs.

The whorls of ink around his bicep and down his forearm shifted and shimmered as he stalked over, climbing in bed beside me. “Come here you.” His arm snaked out, drawing me into his body. “Is this okay?”

“More than okay.” I nestled closer, relishing the feel of his skin against mine.

“Rain check on Operation Darcy?”

“We have time.”

We had all the time in the world.

“I just… I don’t know what I’m supposed to do with this information, shortcake.”

“You don’t need to make any decisions tonight.” I brushed my fingers through his hair, and his eyes shuttered.

“Mmm, that feels so good.”

“I’m right here, Noah. You can sleep, and I’ll be right here.”

“I don’t think I can sleep. I’m too wired.”

“Then we’ll just lie here.”

I continued stroking his hair, and before long, his breathing evened out. “I love you, Noah Holden,” I whispered against his lips before closing my eyes.

And falling asleep in his arms.

My eyes fluttered open.

“Good morning,” Noah’s gravelly voice vibrated inside me, making my stomach curl.

“Hi.” I smiled, stretching like a cat.

He pushed the hair from my eyes and kissed me. “I like waking up next to you.”

“I like waking up next to you too. How are you feeling?”

“Better, I think. I’m sorry I crashed on you.”

“Don’t be. It was a lot to process.”

“I don’t want to see him. I’m glad I know. And maybe one day, I’ll reach out to him. But today is not that day.”

“And that’s okay. It has to be your decision, Noah.”
