“The fuck, asshole? Why the fuck would you say that?” I pinned him with a dark look.

“Holden’s right, Cutler. Don’t let Austin hear you talk about Aurora like that, or he’ll kick your ass.”

“He could try,” he snorted.

Little fucker needed his ego and attitude brought down a peg or two. And if he talked shit about Aurora again, I had no problem being the one to do it.

“Rule number one: never hit on a player’s sister or mom. It’s the oldest rule in the book.”

“Seems kind of stupid if you ask me.” He shrugged, grabbed his controller, and set up another game.

Mase glanced at me and frowned. “You good?” he mouthed.

I nodded, shoving the hair out of my eyes. It had grown longer over the summer, and instead of having it all cut, I’d opted to keep it longer on the top.

“Who was the hottie at the party last night?” Leon changed the subject. “Holden looked all up in her business.” His laugh grated on me.

Jesus, was I this annoying when I was a freshman? Like an excited little puppy?

“Fallon?” I asked. She and some of the Beta Pi girls had shown up at the house after Aiden had declined their invite to the Pledge Party.

“Blonde. Big tits. Tiny waist. Looked like she’d be down for a good time.”

Mase shook his head, and I smirked. “Fallon would eat you alive, Banks.”

“I’d show her a good time.”

“Have at it,” I said. Because fuck knows, I wouldn’t be going there again.

My cell phone started vibrating, and I dug in my pocket to get it, groaning when I spotted the name.

“Noah?” Sam’s breathless voice filled the line.

“Yeah?”

“C-can you come over? I think someone tried to break into my apartment.”

“The fuck?” I sat up. “Have you called the police?”

“Not yet. I kind of panicked and called you.”

“Okay, stay there. I’m coming straight over.”

“Thank you. I didn’t know who else to call.”

“Stay put. I’ll be as quick as I can.”

“Problem?” Mase asked the second I hung up.

“Sam thinks someone tried to get into her apartment. I’m going over there to check it out.”

“Shit, you want some backup?”

“Nah, I can handle it.”

“Okay, keep me updated. She needs to report it to campus security.”

I nodded, grabbing my keys. “I’ll catch you, assholes, later.”
