It didn’t take a genius to see that Aurora had self-esteem issues. She hadn’t wanted to wear the dress tonight, but we’d talked her into it. Then the first sign of someone criticizing her—because I could imagine exactly the kind of thing Adams had said—she ran out of there and back to the sanctuary of her room.

Shit.

Before I could stop myself, I turned around and knocked on her door.

“Noah, what are you—”

“I need to tell you something,” I said.

“It’s late. I really don’t have time—”

“Whatever was going on in that head of yours tonight, shortcake, you’re wrong.”

“I don’t know what you’re talking about.” Her gaze darted away from me.

“I think you do. You’re under some illusion that you couldn’t pull off that dress—”

“Because I couldn’t, Noah. I looked ridiculous.”

“Bullshit.”

“You would say that.” She let out a weary sigh. “You’re gorgeous and popular and athletic. You’re exactly what society tells us a young man is supposed to look like. But it’s different for women. For girls like me.”

“Come here.” I walked into her room, grabbed her hand, tugging her toward the dresser.

Stepping up behind her, I met her wild gaze in the mirror. “What do you see when you look in the mirror?”

“Noah,” she let out a soft, shuddering sigh. “I’m not doing this.”

“Tough shit, shortcake. If you won’t do it, then I will.” I wrapped my arm around her waist, anchoring her body to my chest. “Look at you. You’re beautiful, Aurora. Your eyes, your smile… fuck, I love your smile. And your tits.” My hand glided higher, grazing the underside of her breast. “I fucking love these.”

She sucked in a thin, shaky breath, her entire body trembling. “Noah,” she choked out. “This is ridiculous.”

Aurora rolled her gaze away from me. “I don’t need self-esteem lessons from a guy like you,” she whispered quietly.

“Because my life is fucking perfect, right?” I scoffed, turning her in my arms. Forcing her to look at me. “I thought we were past the judgmental, bitch routine.”

“Glad to know what you really think of me.” Aurora went to walk away, but I grabbed her wrist and pulled her back to me. “Noah, what are you—”

My mouth crashed down on hers as I buried my fingers into her hair, stealing her doubts, stealing every insecurity she had in that pretty little head of hers.

Jesus, she tasted good.

Like strawberries and silk. My tongue licked into her mouth, sliding against her own. Aurora whimpered, and I pulled her closer, aware of every inch of her that touched every inch of me.

She was perfect.

Soft and curvy under my hands as they mapped her body. The girls I typically hooked up with weighed next to nothing, so there wasn’t much to hold onto. But I fucking loved the feel of Aurora’s ass in my hands.

“Noah…”

Her fingers twisted into the stupid bear onesie I was still wearing. But I didn’t care one bit. Because Aurora was kissing me back, and it was every-fucking-thing.

My dick was rock hard between us, desperate for her. But somewhere in the back of my lust-addled brain, I knew I’d already crossed a line. Any more, and there would be no turning back.

“Noah—”

My name on her lips made the world come crashing down around me. She stared up at me with that glassy lovestruck expression girls get when they catch feelings.
