“Best. Husband. Ever,” Elliott said. “Hottest too.”

Yep, there it went. My face got hot…but in a good way. I fucking loved this, loved that he would say that about me to his best friend.

“He likes that,” Vaughn noticed.

“He does and he’s mine,” Elliott warned.

“I would never… Unless the two of you wanted…?”

“We don’t.” Elliott brushed his thumb over my hand where he held it.

“Didn’t you go on a date once and they were in a cuckold relationship?” Vaughn asked me. “I was dying when you told that story on The Vers—not that there’s anything wrong with cuckolding, but…”

“Surprise cuckolding shouldn’t be a thing! He should have told me. Oh my God! The boyfriend came in while my date was fucking me, and he kept saying that his boyfriend was never going to get his cock again. I don’t kink-shame, whatever floats your boat, but all parties should consent, and I hadn’t agreed to being watched. I grabbed my shit and ran out of there. The second I got into the hallway in their building, I ran into an ex-boyfriend who must have moved there. He had his new partner with him. I was half naked. It was a disaster.”

We all laughed.

“Jesus, beautiful. You really had some bad dates,” Elliott said.

“I have the worst luck with men.”

“Not anymore.” He winked.

It’s not real, it’s not real, it’s not real.

But the ice was effectively broken. We spent the rest of the night laughing and talking with Vaughn, whom I really did like. It was a little uncomfortable that he’d slept with my husband, but such is life.

When Vaughn said goodbye, I was surprised he hugged me. “I’ve never seen him like this. Thank you,” he said softly.

I didn’t know how to respond to that, but my heart beat harder. My chest felt like there wasn’t as much space in it as there had been before.

Nooooo. No, no, no, no. I couldn’t do this. I couldn’t fall for Elliott. I couldn’t fall for my husband.

It’s not real, it’s not real, it’s not real.

Vaughn pulled away, ribbing Elliott the way my friends and I did, giving me an excuse not to respond.

After he left, Elliott kissed me, and everything else melted away. He took me upstairs and did as he’d promised—made my ass his.

“Stay,” he whispered afterward, making my breath hitch and my heart feel like it grew even more.

“I can’t. I…I can’t.”

When I was alone in my bed, I wished I’d had the balls to stay with him.

“How long should you wait from first date to spending your first night together?” I read the question from a listener.

All four of us were quiet for a moment as we looked at each other.

“Shut up. Read the real question,” Corbin said, and I swear I had to bite my cheek to keep from laughing.

“You’re a fool,” Marcus told him. “That is the real question.”

“I knew that. I was kidding.” Corbin mouthed to us, “Totally didn’t know that was the real question!”

My stomach cramped, I fought so hard to hold back my chuckling. Jesus, leave it to Corb, but also, how in the hell were we supposed to answer that?

Declan said, “I don’t think that’s something anyone can answer for another person. It all depends on what the two—”

“Or more,” Marcus interrupted.

“Yeah, or more. It really depends on what the people on the date want.”

“I agree,” I added. “There’s nothing wrong with having sex on the first date. It doesn’t mean the relationship can’t turn into more, if that’s what you’re after.”

Corbin said, “You also shouldn’t feel forced to fuck just because it’s a thing that happens a lot. Sex is great, but that doesn’t mean everyone wants to have it, or wants to have it on the first date.”

“Who are you and what did you do with Corbin?” Declan asked playfully.

“I’m deep. I know that just because I like to hook up and have no issues with sex, even with men I don’t know, and despite liking to tease you guys, not everyone is the same.” Corbin gave Declan a look that said, What’s up now? like he was proud of his answer and showed Declan how serious he could be.

Marcus put an arm around Corbin, then ruffled his hair. “You’re all right sometimes, you know that?”

“I’m incredible all the time,” Corbin responded.

“And now your annoying ass ruined it,” Marcus grumbled but still tugged Corbin closer, kissing his temple. “Love you, kid.”

“Aww! Marcus just got sweet!” I teased. “Vers listeners, you know how we love it when that happens. Marcus has the biggest heart of us all, but he also tries to hide it the most.”

“Buzz, buzz…bad reception. Oops, the podcast broke,” Marcus joked, resulting in all of us laughing. “That was my one sweet thing for the month. Now, can we all forget that happened? Who’s reading the next question?”
