My brows furrow as his hands dive under the table, and I can’t help from stepping back and glancing down at the puddle forming under his seat. “Did you just piss yourself?”

“Uh-huh,” he mutters, as still as a statue, barely meeting my stare.

My stomach twists with disgust, and I let out a breath, trying to keep myself from gagging. “What did they say to you?”

Harley swallows hard. “The one with the dark hair,” he says, finally getting somewhere as he flicks his gaze back toward the boys’ table. “He said he’d kill me if I even looked at you wrong, and . . .”

“And what?” I spit, clenching my jaw, more than ready to shove a ten-foot pole straight up Zade’s ass.

“And . . . and I believe him,” he says, his hands starting to shake. “I don’t know what kind of fucked-up shit you’re into, but I didn’t sign up for this.”

Letting out a heavy sigh, I can’t help but notice as the piss puddle starts to run across the ground, moving toward the next table. “Leave,” I tell him.

Harley hastily stands, not wasting a single second. He goes to bail when I shake my head. “Not so fast.” He turns back, devastation in his eyes, the thought of having to sit here with me a moment longer weighing down on him. “This was a date, was it not? What kind of gentleman doesn’t pay for his date’s meal?”

His eyes widen, and without hesitation, his hand plunges deep into his pocket, yanking out his wallet. He throws a few hundred dollars down on the table, not stopping to check how much he’s paying before dropping the whole wallet along with it, his hands so fucking shaky it’s embarrassing. Then without even raising his gaze to mine, he bolts for the door, leaving a trail of piss behind him.

I shake my head, almost humiliated for simply having to claim I was on a date with the guy. The waitress strides past, and I call out to her as I scoop the money off the table and shove it into my bra. “Sorry, my date kinda had an accident,” I tell her, indicating to the puddle slowly making its way across the restaurant. Her eyes widen in horror. “But listen, I’m still hungry, and I didn’t get my ass all dressed up for nothing. So if you wouldn’t mind, have both of our meals delivered to that table over there,” I say, indicating the only other empty table in the restaurant. “And be sure to charge my meals to them.” I point toward the boys’ table. “And while you’re at it, give yourself a good tip.”

Her brows furrow, and she reluctantly nods, probably one of the strangest conversations she’s had within the walls of her workplace. Then without wasting another moment, I lift my iced water off the table and stride across the restaurant, making myself comfortable at my new table. I slouch down in my chair, kick my feet up on the chair directly opposite me, and settle my stare on the boys, letting them see the darkness swirling within my gaze.

Both mine and Harley’s meals are delivered to my table ten minutes later, and I make a show of taking my damn time, eating them both. Though I have to play this smart and leave the fries for last, otherwise, I won’t have enough room for the good shit.

The boys stare back at me, and I’m sure the second Harley left they expected me to drag my ass back to them, but if they want to fuck with my night, then I’ll happily fuck with theirs. A waitress comes past with a Diet Coke and places it down on my table with a smile. “What time does the restaurant close?” I ask before she gets a chance to scurry off.

“2 a.m.”

A grin stretches across my face as I glance at the boys. It’s barely nine, but if I have to sit here for five hours, enjoying nothing but my own company while the boys are forced to sit there and wait, then that’s exactly what I’m going to do. I look up at her with a beaming smile. “Perfect.”

The waitress is called to the next table and she quickly moves along as I lift my Diet Coke to my lips, wondering what the restaurant’s dessert menu looks like. I take my time, slowly working through the two meals, but damn it, those fries. They’re going to be my downfall.

An hour passes, and I watch as the boys get antsy, starting to figure out my plan. Sawyer goes to get up, probably to come and tell me to hurry up, but Zade calls him back, making him sit down. I can’t hear what’s muttered between them, but when all four of their sharp gazes come back to mine at the same time, I can only imagine what bullshit has been said. Though coming from Zade, I’m sure their plan is to wait me out, assuming I’ll break before they do. And they’re probably right. They’ve been trained to endure the worst conditions, but I’ve been preparing to take on two meals like this my whole life.
