Easton’s busy in the kitchen while Zade is doing everything in his power to pretend he didn’t give me the most breathtaking kiss I’ve ever received in my life, and I’m damn sure he’s trying to pretend he didn’t like it either. But if he’s happy to ignore it, then hell, so am I. The last thing I need is for things to get complicated between me and Zade.

Where he’s concerned, I need there to be a big, solid line between us—something that’s so big it’s impossible to cross. I thought there was, and yet Zade fucking DeVil found a way to tear it down. The bastard practically shit all over my line. He’s killing me in eighteen days. Butchering me. I can’t fall for him. I need to hate him, need to spend my night dreaming about how good it would feel to take a knife and slit his throat to earn my freedom. Except for last night, I was dreaming about how good it would feel to ride his cock like a fucking cowgirl. But then that quickly turned to me wondering how good it would be if all four of the guys took me at once. Naturally, that’s when Dalton came storming in and woke me up. I could have murdered the bastard.

Zade didn’t talk to me the whole drive back to the penthouse, and he sure as fuck didn’t say a word as we were locked into the tension-filled elevator. When we got into bed, he made a point not to hold me, and I came to the conclusion that Zade DeVil and I can never be left alone again.

Putting it to the back of my mind, I keep sneaking through the big apartment, trying to keep quiet as I lock Sawyer in my sight. My back slides along the wall, and I’m all too aware of just how loud I am. Hell, I can practically feel Dalton rolling his eyes.

“Whatever the fuck you’re trying to do,” Sawyer says from the couch. “I can see you. You’re like a fucking elephant trying to tiptoe across a frozen pond, only the ice is breaking under your feet, and you are scrambling to keep your head above water.”

My jaw drops, and I step away from the wall, gaping at Sawyer. “You did not just call me a fucking elephant.”

He shakes his head. “You’re right. I called you a clueless, scrambling elephant.”

“You’re an ass,” I tell him, hating how down he’s been since his sister was caught and shoved into Zade’s fucked-up little prison cell yesterday. “But you’re lucky you’re cute.”

Sawyer rolls his eyes as my gaze cuts to Dalton. A grin tears across his face, and he subtly nods, more than ready to put my training into practice. “So, ummm . . . Dalton taught me a magic trick,” I tell him, waving my hands around like some kind of magician. “Wanna see?”

Sawyer’s gaze cuts across to Dalton, his brows furrowing as he tries to work out what the hell we’re up to. “Alright,” he says slowly, turning his stare back to me, the suspicion in his eyes so deep it’s almost off-putting. “I’ll bite. What’s your trick?”

A sly grin stretches across my lips. “I can make you fall asleep.”

Easton scoffs from the kitchen, Venom circling his fingers. “This I’d like to see,” he mutters, clearly thinking I don’t have a chance in hell to pull this off. As usual, these guys have become accustomed to underestimating me.

Sawyer grins back at me, opening his arms out wide, inviting me to give it my best shot. “Have at it, Doll.”

“Okay, but solid warning,” I say, more than playing it up. “Just because I know how to make you go to sleep, doesn’t mean I can wake you up. So, I might very well be condemning you to a comatose life.”

Sawyer scoffs. “I think I’ll take the risk.”

I wink. “Good choice.”

With that, I hold out my hand. “Right this way, good sir,” I say, getting a thrill as he places his hand in mine. He lets me pull him up off the couch, and I lead him across the room to the dining table, pulling out a chair for him and asking him to sit his mouth-watering ass down.

As he takes his seat, I catch Dalton’s gaze again, and the sly grin across his face has me desperately looking away, knowing damn well I’ll give it away before getting to have my fun. “Alright,” I say, catching Sawyer’s eyes. “Keep looking straight ahead and listen to the sound of my voice.”

He gives the slightest chin lift, acknowledging my instructions while gracefully refraining from rolling his eyes at my bullshit. I start walking around him, clicking my fingers, and waving my arms like some kind of magician before finally coming to a stop right behind him.
