Some items held sheets with leads leading from underneath them. Curiously, Benedict yanked a sheet off and stared in horror at the bigger version of the Benedict Blower, as he now called it. He snatched the second cover and stepped back.

“Boom!” Mariah yelled as she ripped off the remaining two covers and shoved the fourth one forward, boxing him in.

“Don’t you damn well dare!” Benedict yelled.

Mariah grinned and trod on a switch.

Benedict screeched as his body instantly blew apart.

“Holy crap!” Melisandre spluttered as the workmen and Mr Evans stared at her wide-eyed.

“That was… wow…” a guy muttered.

“What was he wearing?” another murmured, eyeing Mariah as she danced and cackled on the spot.

“Boom, boom, boom, boom, I want you out my room!” Mariah sang, lifting her hands up and wriggling about.

“This is gonna be great!” a younger man crowed as Mariah kept singing her song.

Benedict

For the third time in three days, he checked his manhood was intact. This was a nightmare. The workmen had brought her more toys! And she was imaginative enough! He rapidly cooled his temper because he couldn’t afford to become emotional and ruefully shook his head as he heard her singing loudly and off-key. Mariah was winning this war. But Benedict wasn’t down and out yet!

Mariah

Mariah made sure Fluffers was with her as she plotted her next course. She laid the mat down and then placed the surrounding frame, checking it was all connected before covering it with a rug. Benedict was hers! She hurried to bed and lay awake, smiling. He wouldn’t know what hit him!

???

Mr Evans and Melisandre met her in the morning. Mr Evans introduced her to his foreman, who’d be in charge of the project, while Mr Evans ran between the Jekyll and Hyde and the Black Cat. She ordered breakfast for everyone as she still hadn’t resupplied her groceries and was starving. The workers greeted her happily, eating pastries she’d had delivered, laughing as the delivery boy rushed back down the lane in fear.

Their eyes were on her as she lounged at the bar working on her laptop. She sensed Benedict before she saw him, and Fluffers gave up his position. He was four steps away from her trap.

“Oh, how do I tell Benedict this?” Mariah murmured, and Mr Evans looked up. Out of the corner of her eye, she noticed Benedict take two steps closer. He peered around, searching for the fans, but none could be seen.

“Poor Benedict,” Mariah muttered and saw him take another step. Come on, one more, Mariah urged silently and shook her head. Benedict took the step, and Mariah slammed her hand down onto a control next to her laptop. Blue beams shot from the rug, imprisoning him within them. Benedict stiffened. He’d long since learned not to underestimate Mariah. In his translucent state, he reached out and yelped as the light he touched gave him a shock.

Mariah grinned as Benedict turned to her with a wary look. The bars held a faint hum as she realised he was indeed trapped. Benedict tried shoving an arm through, but the shock was too much.

“Apologise for what you did to Fluffers!” Mariah demanded.

Workmen were coming out to watch, and Benedict looked around him.

“You can’t hurt me!” he taunted, and Mariah smiled wickedly. “All these are doing is keeping me trapped.”

“Not quite. My trap wouldn’t be so simple!” Mariah exclaimed happily and hit a second button. Benedict had opened his mouth to taunt her, but instead, a scream left his lips. One hundred thousand volts shot through his body as the workers watched with horrified amusement.

Mariah’s jaw dropped open as Benedict flashed solid, and then his skeleton flashed into focus before turning him translucent. He kept repeating the cycle, reminding her of when someone got electrocuted in a cartoon.

In a puff of smoke, Benedict disappeared with one last scalded yowl!

Mariah started giggling as the flashing skeleton and body images shot into her mind. She laughed harder at the puff of smoke lingering in the air. Finally, the surrounding workmen began laughing, even as they winced at recalling Benedict's squeals.

“I thought he’d got his balls stuck in a mousetrap!” one guy commented, setting them all off.

“Never knew a fellow could get so high-pitched!” Mariah giggled, wiping tears from her eyes. Oh, that was amazing!
